I'm in Newark, about a mile off Eagle Mountain Lake. I got my gliders from Sandman (Mike) also. He's a great guy. He proves that there are some reputable "flea market breeders" out there. Me and my boyfriend got our pair from him about a year and a half ago, and we keep going back to him for accessories and just to talk about the progress of our gliders...like when we let him know about having our first joey. The gliders we got from him were happy and healthy and he was more than helpful with giving us enough info to get started (of course I came to GC for supplemental info).

i know that South Ridge animal hospital does treat suggies. i just called and confirmed it. so if anyone is in Greater denton then there you go i'd love to meet other people with suggies.

i got my kilala from sandmans he is really nice and helped me understand everything i needed to know about suggies. but he is really nice and dispite some other reviews on other sites he really does care and love the suggies he breeds and takes care of

The problem is, buying from sandman is supporting mill breeders. Please find a reputable hobby breeder and don't support those that keep their gliders in tiny little cages on minimal diets.

Do some research about Mike Sandridge, Sandman Gliders. You will find that there are many more bad experiences then there are good.

I'm glad your experience was good but that is the rare example.

I'm not going to purchase another glider from him, but I do go to him to keep in touch about the gliders...just like I like to keep in touch with people that have gotten puppies that I've bred. I had absolutely no complaints about the animals that I got from him or the experience as a whole. Also, I've heard of a lot more horrid breeders here in Texas that sound way worse than him (another guy named Mike who self-neutered his gliders with a pocket knife in the parking lot at First Monday in Canton...but was banned after the people running the flea market found out about his practices)

ive noticed something. recently im finding it HARD to get ahold of mike. i really need to talk to him about my suggie. but i wont be buying from him agian if when i call for important things i dont even get a reply call.

Well, I bought my sugar glider from Mike as well, and she has been VERY hard to tame!! She still crabs at me everyday, she is VERY moody, and she seems to be afraid of everything. I am feeding her the BML diet( just like Mike had given me), and he had originally told me "they are very easy to care for, and their diet is simple...just fruit, the protein pellets(which she refuses to eat), and yogurt. Was he EVER wrong!! They have diets like a human! Mixing up the BML, feezing it, fresh fruit/veggies and water, meal worms! I bought her as a class pet, and have only brought her to school ONCE (since Sept.). She seems to be so fun one day...and then she forgets who I am. She is crabbing at me from her pouch as I type. I have seriously considered finding a new home for her. I wanted to get a friend for her, but I don't want to take the chances of getting one as difficult as she has been. Any suggestions?

The first thing that is important to understand is that your glider is afraid and is not sure if her new home/enviorment is safe for her or not. It takes time for them to learn to trust. Being removed from her family, placed in various locations, and now in another new home is stressful on her. She needs alot of gentleness, care, and understanding right now. The way she is delt with right now will be the result of her reactions. I can tell that your frustraited, but please try and understand how she feels. She's alone, and just needs love.

I also would like to add that just because you got her from Mike this does not make her a bad glider. She is her own unique self, take the time to learn to get to know her. Once you have passed this period of adjustment for the both of you she will become your best little friend.

I'm looking for a great glider vet in the area, I know there is supposed to be a vet that treats gilders in Southlake, has anyone used them? Also, what about the one in North Richland Hills (from the vet database)? My boys need wellness checks and neuters.

Hello Everyone! We are new to Texas and are in the Austin area.

The dr in Farmer's branch (he's listed in vet links) is highly recommended. His neuters are scheduled far out but it's worth the wait if you can.

Just move to Amarillo from Denver.

No gliders yet, but we are planning on getting 2.

Just FYI - from one Texan to another - Sandman's is not the best place to get a glider. There are a ton of rescues in Texas from him and McGrath, but there are some excellent breeders here too!

and i totally agree with Molly. if you are looking into another glider there are so many rescues that you could be a new and forever mommy too. i just took two in and they have stolen so much of my heart. lol! yeah are so cute though they can have it! and not to mention it really makes you feel good to know that you have given a home to a little one whos old home could no longer have them or didnt want them. its the best feeling in the world.

Wow you live near my mom in Ingleside. I grew up in Ingleside. I believe Dr broussard sees exotics still I used to work for him years ago. And Peggy uses Dr Tristan in Portland for her suggies. I live in Rosenberg 2 1/2 hrs from Ingleside, And about 30 min from houston.
