Are raisins glider-friendly? I'm talking about SunMaid if brand matters... It seems to be additive and preservative free (the black ones) according to here :

http://www.sunmaid.com/faqs.htm

I've been giving my gliders one or two a day and Natasha seems to love them, though Boris doesn't care for them at all.

Raisins are dried grapes, and should be fed in moderation, I don't think it wise to feed on a daily basis. As treats, only, but not everyday.

I feed my suggies red grapes periodically because they love them so, but sparingly, even though some do not feed them at all.

The key is moderation....

I feed my gliders raisins as treats sometimes. They like the yogurt covered raisins...me too. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

I have a question....Are red grapes not as good as green grapes for the babies? Those are the ones mine love and I don't want to feed them anything they are not suppose to have. TIA

They have the same properties... according to USDA data base for nutritional value... but to me, the green ones are a little more sour... thats all...

My suggies will eat both, the monkey piglets!

One thing to keep in mind about raisins, they are also high in iron. Too much iron can destroy the liver...

Also there was an post somewhere about raisins not being a very good choice of food for other reasons as well....maybe someone will recall what that was about as well.

I personally stopped feeding my gliders raisins, mainly due to the iron factor.

Peggy,
Not sure, but I think there was something said about raisins having tannic acid and it not being good for them. Maybe that is what you are remembering.
