Leyna - just keep doing with her what you are. She seems to be improving. If she has had a stroke, there is a chance she will recover to a functional level, but it will take time. The vet couldn't really pinpoint what was wrong with her?

Jeannine, a friend of mine had a glider that had a stroke. She eventually healed to the point where she could lead a relatively normal life... So, I am hopeful.
Gina, my schedule and the specialist's schedule aren't matching up very well. As of now, I'm waiting on my work schedule for the first week of December to see if I can take her in then...

Well, yesterday was Godiva's first day without being hand fed. I was a little nervous at first because she wouldn't eat in front of me. But I kept checking on her and she seemed nice and alert and not lethargic, so I decided to let her go. Well, by morning, she had a nice full belly, so she definitely ate She must of also taken a swim in her dinner because she is a mess. But I could careless if she's messy, I'm just so happy she is eating on her own. She also seems to be getting a lot more coordinated. I've decided to take her back to my regular vet next week to see what she thinks before taking her to the specialist. I also wanted to mention that Godiva has returned to her regular cage and her hubby. She is doing very well in her cage. She's climbing around slowly, but with little trouble. I've even seen her crawling around on some of her toys. I think she's more wondering than playing, but a lot of my toys are kind of unstable and move when she crawls on them and I think that will help with her coordination and muscular development. While I still don't know if she will ever be normal, I do believe now that she'll be able to at least live a comfortable life

Thanks for the update Leyna! I sounds like your little Lady is moving forward with things. Hopefully the road ahead is smooth for her and whatever has been going on is starting to heal itself. I'm sure with her being back with her mate, makes a world of difference in her emotional state. Many blessings and prayers.

Oh that is GREAT news! I know you'll keep us updated on the vet news. We all know that the snuggles with a loved one makes everything easier to handle... Now she has her hubby to make it easier for her! Go Lady Godiva, Go!

Godiva is still eating on her own. It's such a relief to get a break from hand feeding her. I've finally been able to get some sleep, my other critters are getting more attention, and maybe, just maybe, I'll get around to cleaning the house now I still don't think Godiva will ever be normal, but I do believe she will be able to maintain some quality of life now. She still had a lot of trouble with her coordination, for example, she fell in her food last night Also, she isn't grooming herself at all. Specter tries to help, but I'm probably going to have to continue giving her baths every couple days. She tolerates it well, so it's not a big deal. Medication wise, everything for Godiva has been discontinued for now. It was when I stopped giving her antibiotics that the greatest improvement occurred??? We are looking into a special medicine that they give stroke victims. It helps the brain start to reestablish the lost connections. They also use it with some people after car accidents and things of the sort... Since it's a human grade med and never been used for animals (that we know of) before, we are trying to make sure it's safe before giving it to Godiva. Other than that, there's not much new to report

Well, that's a HUGE report! Good luck with the new drug, it's a gamble, but it's worth it. Anything for our little fuzzies, right? I hope you continue to get some sleep!

oh, that is so sad for all that you did and she seemed to be getting better. i wanted to say this abt. strokes, i dont know if they have the correct equipment at a vets. hospital or not but here goes. my mother had a stroke, she was a vegetable could not walk, talk a complete sentence, wouldn't eat etc. all the doctors did was try to give her a different million meds-which did not improve her. i am a naturalist i have been studying for years on different ailments and natural remedies. i found out that a hyper baric oxygen chamber that they use for the bends, diabetic wounds, etc. also helps stroke victims, i had my mother go in for treatments and the result was unbelieveable. she had 4 treatments (she wouldnt get more she started getting claustaphobic) after the 1st treatment she could walk, eat and talk better, by the 4th she was her old self. i am wondering if they have these little chambers for animals/sugar gliders. if my dogs had a stroke i would look into it. now that i am learning abt. the problems gliders can have i will pursue this subject with a vet. very sorry abt. lady godiva. everybody have a good holiday. regards

further to my comment above a large group of neurologists are trying to get the insurance co. to pay for this as it works for strokes and any kind of diabetic neuropathy. this was a little off the subject but i do wonder abt. these chambers for our little ones.
regards, p.s. i just read all abt. lady godiva today and it is very upsetting, take care
