That is encouraging news Leyna! It sounds like whatever was going on might be starting to clear itself out. Thank you for the update. Many hugs and prayers to you and Lady Godiva...

Godiva is back to throwing her head back Other than that she doesn't seem to be worsening, but it concerns me... Hopefully it's just due to all of the excitement yesterday. She is still eating well (2 meals of 3cc's each already this morning), but is still refusing anything other than Ensure.

This is a far shot - you mentioned cats? Is it in any way, shape, or form possible that your cats may have transmitted something that she reacted to? Indoor cats I assume would be less likely exposed to any weird outdoorsy parasites or chemicals but maybe their litter or food? I'm throwing out wild guesses since it seems neurological and I can't think of anything else.
Godiva has never had any exposure to my cats. My cats aren't allowed in my glider room and even if they managed to sneak in there, my cages are double stacked and Godiva has a cage on top...
Right now, Godiva is in my bra. Her condition hasn't changed since this morning... I forgot to mention that my vet also gave me a dewormer/antiparasitic to give all of my animals in case there was some sort of cross species contamination. All of my animals (gliders, cats, dog, and foxes) got their first dose this morning.

Just another little update on Godiva. She is still gobbling up her ensure and refusing everything else. Last night she got a little squirmy, so I put her in a small (16x16x24) cage and let her wonder around for a while. This morning she had a small, normal BM. I fed her and gave her her meds and a few hours later, she had a very soft stool. It wasn't diarrhea, but it was pretty mushy... I hope she isn't developing other issues due to all of the meds she's on. The antibiotic she's taking hasn't ever caused diarrhea when I've used it before, but I did just start her on a 3 day course of wormer yesterday, so maybe that's the source...
Ssbarika, I'm sorry if I came off cross...

Leyna, Thanks for the update. Hang in there, Godiva will get better. She has a lot of prayers and good thoughts sent in her way and yours. I know this must be really stressful for you. Send you a big hug, Raquel

Godiva spent her first night back in her cage. She was just too squirmy for her pouch last night... She seems to have done well, with the exception of her poor nose. Apparently, she was butting her head against the cage bars and rubbed a sore on to the top of her poor little nose. I kind of wonder if she was looking for me... She is contentedly curled up in my bra now.
Hopefully her recently increase in activity is a testament to her improving health. She was extremely vigorous this morning while eating her breakfast... Also, despite snoozing quietly right now, she's actually been very active lately. I don't want to get my hopes up to high, but I think my little girl might be getting better

yippee! when you say "breakfast", was it anything more than ensure this time???? and maybe the soft stool is just a sign that her body wants more than ensure? (I know you are trying, not your fault!)
I hope she keeps improving!!! p.s. off topic: do you have a fennec fox??
She's still only eating ensure I've been offering her pureed versions of my gliders supper every night, but she's been turning her nose up at everything. My vet says that Ensure has everything she needs, so it's not a bad thing for her to want to eat, it's just frustrating that she won't even try anything else. But on a positive note, I just fed her again and she pooped a nice solid poop

I am sure you have already thought of this, but it's runnin through my head. LOL Maybe you can do her like rescues when you switch diets. Slowly add the pureed version of your normal glider diet to her ensure a tiny bit at a time, and very gradually add more each day till she is weaned off of the ensure??? Maybe if you do it slowly enough she won't even notice??? We all know how spoiled these little babies can get. LOL And it's all our fault!
BLESS YOU for all your caring and effort!!! I am sure Lady Godiva can feel all your love and caring and can't help but get better with a Mommy like you to care for her!
I just thought I'd step in and add that I'm blessed enough to get to see Godiva in person and she's got the biggest will to keep on keeping on that I've ever seen in a glider!
Leyna's even been so sweet as to let me help with a couple feedings and today Godiva even slurped up some of her dinner all on her own! Well, she ended up with a wet chin and kept blowing bubbles in the food because she wasn't completely co-ordinated, but she sure did try!
Oh yeah, I've also seen Leyna try and give Godiva stuff other then Ensure and she wants nothing to do with it and just spits it back out. Leyna's tried EVERYTHING to get Godiva to eat other stuff, but she's a stubborn little bugger, lol.
I sure hope little Lady Godiva keeps up the progress Leyna! Enjoy the bra-baby while she lasts cause if she keeps getting better she's gonna want to run in a wheel for a week straight just to make up for all that sleeping!

Robin, I would have to be very careful doing that because Ensure is perfectly balanced. Ultimately, as long as she isn't getting constipated, strait Ensure is actually a very healthy thing for her to be eating. She's getting all of her vitamins, minerals, protien, and calories right there.
Nicole, I can't thank you enough for your help with her. While I love Godiva dearly, caring for her round the clock can get very taxing. It's nice to know I can relax for a little while when you are around.
Godiva is helping me rest a little on her own. She's now eating large enough meals that I only need to feed her every 4-6 hours. Unfortunately, Godiva has kind of reached a platueau. She's not getting worse, but she's not improving. I go to the vet again today. Hopefully we can figure something else out.
I have been trying to figure out a new housing situation for her. Since she's been eating more, she's also been getting more energy. Some times she wants to wonder around a little, but I tried a small wire 'sick cage' for her and she just rubbed her nose raw on the wires. I'm look into getting some type of aquarium for her, that I can line with fleece and maybe make a little fleece sac for her to sleep in I also would like to try and figure out a way to get a low lying bowl in there so she could possibly eat/drink on her own. She may never be 'normal' but if she can have a decent quality of life I will be pleased...

Awww....no problem! You know I always love helping out with precious little Godiva! All you have to do is ask and I'd be more then willing to help out more if you need it. I may have an aversion to needles, but if she ever gets past the point of needing sub-q fluids then she can have sleep-overs here to give you an entire day off, lol.

Round 3, ding, ding! I've been trying to post an update on Godiva all day, but my computer hasn't been cooperating, lol.
Yesterday, Godiva went back to the vet. She weighed in at 66 grams, which is 10 grams more than last Monday (Yay!). She's also much more active
Unfortunately, weight gain doesn't always mean improved health. Godiva is still very sick. My vet and I decided to try yet another antibiotic on Godiva. She got her first dose last night... This morning, I saw Godiva doing something I haven't seen her do in 13 days. She was curled up sleeping, like a normal glider. Over the last 2 weeks, she's been just sprawling out and sleeping where she lies. While it's not much, it gives me a glimmer of hope.
And last but not least, I've made 2 videos of Godiva. One is of her eating, the other is of her crawling around. I'm currently working on uploading those videos to photobucket. Attached is a picture of me feeding Godiva
