I made my first toy out of plastic hardware cloth the other day - a ledge/shelf for my gliders' cage. I noticed that when I cut it with wire clippers, it left some very sharp edges! I wrapped the edges with fleece for the shelf, but how would I take care of that problem for a round toy, for instance? <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/nixweiss.gif" alt="" />

What do you guys do?

Thanks!
Kristy

[:"green"]Use a pair of sharp scissors instead of wire clippers and you'll get a smoother cut. Also, all edges are wrapped with fleece, as you did. When you make a round toy, you weave the fleece through the overlapping edges, so they're still covered.

Good idea with the fleece.....

I use a liquid vinyl coating that dries up like the coating on the cage wire. I got it at Home Depot, its called Tool Dip, in the tool department....

Never heard of the tool tip stuff, but I use scissors as well & I just make sure that all exposed edges have a fleecy tie!

You can also take a lighter and lightly burn/melt the sharp cut edges.
