I have the first one on Molly and Oliver's cage (plus a lixit). The second link went to an empty shopping cart! lol
I had one of these for the geckos, but the crickets kept drowning in it and blocking the hole, so I tossed it! (I'd be afraid they would tip it over anyway).
But you are right, the first one is really great! I have the biggest one.

Thank you everyone! We are completely devastated over this senseless tragedy! I only pray that her death will prevent other babies from the same fate by this thread.

I LOVE the LIXIT bottles because they can't be knocked off the side of the cage. I havent had a problem with them yet!
I also add a cap full of applejuice, pedialyte, or water to their veggies. I make them everynight and warm them in the microwave after they come out, i pour some of the liquid over it - this way they get a little more moisture. So that kind of covers them at night while they're awake and eating.
During the day, i just put a shallow bowl of water in the bottom of the cage when i open it to take out their old food.
I like the idea of putting the bowl under the water bottle, but if they ball gets stuck and thats the reason that they arent getting water, the bowl wouldnt help in that case.
I think having a shallow open water source is the best option during the day, at night there are a lot of options.

Lynsie & GizmosGal:
I'm so sorry for BOTH of you to hear of this tragedy! Not only do I check water bottles on a DAILY basis, I LISTEN to hear that at least one resident in each of my 7 cages are drinking water WHILE I'M IN THE ROOM. And I'm in there at least twice daily...
My heart aches at this loss.

Does anyone use the bird water bottle that has a small trough to drink out of ? There are no moving parts, so unless gravity breaks there will never be a problem with water coming out. Water Bottle

I was going to suggest this type of water bottle as well...... I got my bottle off line from Dr. Foster's and it has a Yellow Duck that floats in it so I can see the water level any time I walk past the cage. http://www.drsfostersmith.com/product/prod_display.cfm?c=6067+10382+17086&pcatid=17086

For those of you who have a Meijers - they sell those bottles there (with the floating duck). I got one but my boys don't really care for it. Vicki
