I had a customer call me tonite, in tears, her gliders were half dead, of dehydration. While on the phone with her, making arrangements to take her some pedialyte, call the the vet, etc etc, they both passed away. What happened is she had to go in for an emergency c-section, and her husband didn't take very good care of them while she was in the hospital. She loved these guys like she loves her human children. PLEASE, PLEASE, I beg you, make sure there are several people that can fill in for you in an emergency, people that will take their needs and care as seriously and importantly as you do. Make up care sheets, with cages labeled with names, specific instructions for each glider/cage, and emergency numbers. Sometimes your breeder will be willing to glider sit, or check in on them, but make sure it's someone that can handle them, and will take good care of them

OH! How sad. There have been a couple times I have been at work or in the hospital and my hubby had to take care of the twins. He really cares and knows how important it is that he get things right. My condolances to your customer!!!

I am so sorry to hear about her loss

I know all too well about this... I left my babies in the care of my sister at my old house when I moved and was painting my new apartment (didnt want the gliders to be exposed to fumes). It was my fault that I screwed the water bottle cap on wrong, but if my sister just checked the water bottles every night like she was supposed to, Snowflake could of been saved.

This is so sad. It is esp. so terrible when it happens out of neglect rather than an illness. That is allot to cope with on top of her ordeal as it was.
