Hey all, I am new here. Check out my bio for a little bit about me. I am hoping on getting a glider and trying this one last time - and I will name her Jewl. Recently I lost Jaz, and a year ago Blossom died for dehydration - her water bottle ball was stuck. This time was worse. I... washed him... He was in his pouch - I had layed him on the dirty clothes so he would be laying on soft things sleeping instead of the hard floor while I cleaned his cage. I threw so more clothes on there, not thinking. Later I threw them in the washer. As I took the clothes out of the washer... plop. He (in his pouch) fell out. I was in tears. I don't remember doing this, but mom said that when this first happened she was trying to calm me down and she said I slammed here against the wall and banged on her chest and yelled that I was a murderer. I am... but I still do not remember doing that. Well, 1/10 of a 'Hi' and 9/10 story and sadness. I feel so awful. This was a week and 3 days ago... so it hasn't been long. I feel so terrible - he looked up to me, loved me... he was so innocent. Sometimes I wish I would've died and not him. The poem 'Rainbow Bridge' that I recently read put me in tears and has helped me a lot in the past few days. *sigh* Well... hey everyone. Expect to see a lot of me. For now, it is 1 AM - I am headed to bed.

Aww i am so sorry for the loss of your baby, your story really brought tears to my eyes. I had a friend who accidently did that to her ferret... accidents happen and we can all learn from these incidents so we can prevent them happening again in the future. Good luck on finding another furr butt to love, it won't be hard, they are all easy to love

I am not sure of the brand, give me a week and a few days and I can tell you - I am visitng grandparents for a week - I had to come and... well - bury him. We live in apartments so I figured he should be buried by Pa's pond near blossom and my hamster, Jordan who was old and had to get put to sleep 3 weeks ago... bad cancer.

Welcome to glider central. I'm sorry for what happened. Maybe my Joey can keep Jaz company. He was recently euthanized for a very bad mutilation. In fact I pray that all my babies can be Jaz's best friend. They are Ginger, Rocket, and Joey.

I bet they're up there right now gliding from tree to tree together, missing each of us yet knowing that someday we will meet again.

I'm so sorry for your loss!!! Accidents happen all the time, even when we try so hard to prevent them. I know you're a good person and you will cherish his memory. I'm sure he is watching over you now. Thank you for sharing your story. I'm so sorry to read this. I'm very sure that your courageous post will save the lives of other gliders. I once had a glider that met a similarly horrible end (he fell into a flushing toilet), and my carelessness caused it, so I sympathize. I can tell you that the memory will haunt you, and that you'll regret it forever. But good can come of it for other gliders, and you've helped that happen.

I know that I, for one, will start making it a practice to check all my pockets before washing any clothes. I don't usually carry gliders in my pockets, but that doesn't matter. It's still important to be thinking of them all the time, and watching out for their safety. There might be that one time that I had a glider in a pocket. It only takes a moment of my not thinking, and something awful could happen. So I'm going to start making sure I do this regularly.

Thank you again for being willing to share this. I hope the wonderful memories you have of your glider will be the ones you remember. Losing a glider in this way is different than losing one through health issues. It's hard. I'll be praying for you, and hope that as time goes on and you're a great owner to other gliders, that you'll be able to see that this post was valuable to others.

(and if you haven't already, I hope you'll take the opportunity to share this experience in the death database).

I am terribly sorry about the loss of your glider. You are very brave to share your story, so that it may help other glider owners to prevent this type of accident in the future. Sending lots of and in your direction.
