So, both Grace and Stewie have been watching the bottom grate of their Congo cage for about a week...

Due to the weather extremes this spring, mice have moved in, and it has been difficult to catch them all. My guess is there were 3.

It's hard to catch them due to the gliders, and I've had to go to Google and Pinterest for ideas. I caught one so far.

And Stewie caught one...

It was quite comical to watch him drag it around, but when he finally found a place to eat it, hubby decided to take it away from him.

I'm pretty sure it was a baby mouse, so it was born inside. I don't use chemicals or sprays.

Was it a good idea to take it from Stewie, or should we have let him have it? I've heard people feeding pinkies to gliders. But it can be a bloody mess.

Grace wanted no part of the mouse. She ran to her pouch and stayed there, but she is young and doesn't understand.

This is the short version of the whole story. Stay tuned and when I post the whole story, I'll link it here.

I just want to know if house mice are safe for them to eat?

Thanks for posting, Dawn. I will be very interested to hear the whole story of Stewie and his mousecapade rofl

I too would like to hear from folks about house born mice and gliders.

Not safe for them to eat. Some of the reasons:
1. If anyone uses pesticides, even the neighbors.
2. Parasites!

Yeah, I understand, but I don't think Stewie does...

I do plan on getting him and Grace in for a vet check. It's over due. Is there anything more I should have tested to make sure he didn't get any parasites? A blood test too maybe?

It's a creepy scary thing to watch them hunt... Such soft and cuddly, tiny creatures with a "hunt" instinct. smile

So here's the link to Stewie's adventure:

http://www.glidercentral.net/ubbthr.../1423556/stewie-its-my-mouse#Post1423556

It's unedited at this moment. This is try # 2 the first try I lost by "fat finger". I was proof reading on the laptop. I typed this all from my phone the second time! Whew!

I don't think blood work is called for, but discuss it with your vet.
