Has anyone ever had luck with bonding gliders that were originally aggressive towards another? I took in a re-home glider as a friend to my Tink, and she despises him. He’s a bit older, neutered male. He’s been a single glider his whole life. Tink is younger, but she came from a colony of 6, so I’m surprised she’s so aggressive towards him. He’s been nothing but curious and sweet the whole time. My past experience with bonding gliders has been positive, they loved each other and were inseparable. So this is very new to me.
I’m trying the cage by cage approach for a while, but she doesn’t seem to be too fond of him even being around.

She’s otherwise very sweet with me and her and I bonded in a matter of one week. She licks me, peeks out to see me and is super sweet with me. But I wish she had someone to play with while I sleep.

In my experience (which is limited), if they stay side by side in cages long enough, they realize they are the only 2gliders in their world. Mine took about 3 months. I kept their cages about 5" apart so they could smell, but not touch.

In the meantime, they each had a safe glider wheel, and toys. I spent time with each of them and even swapped cages so they could smell and mark each other's territory.

Once each of them showed interest (they quietly chatter to each other) by hanging out in their cage next to the other cage, I tried intros in a neutral place like a small glider proof bathroom, bathtub or tent. If it worked out Ok, I'd put them together. If not, we'd try again.

I did do intros in the morning when they were tired. If it worked, I'd keep an ear out and listen during that day, and watch reactions that night.

Swapping pouches helps too.

Please keep us posted. smile

Great update, after a week of being side by side, I introduced them this morning and it went marvelously 🥰 I’m over the moon happy! They’re both now snuggled in my bonding scarf so I can watch them throughout the day.

Any advice on whether I should keep them in separate cages or put them in together and watch them overnight to make sure they get along? I doubt I’d be able to stay up all night (not that young anymore), but I would definitely try smile

Any advice welcome!

I usually do introductions on the weekend so that I can scrub down the cage and wheel they are going to share.

Put two sleeping pouches in the cage in case they want to sleep separately for a while.

I have the next four days off, so this is perfect because I can spend more time observing them. Already in the process of cleaning everything as well smile Thanks for the feedback! smile
