Hello all! So today I was asked by the person I got my own 2 Sugar Gliders from, If I would re-home another sugar glider for her, Valcrow - her granddaughters Sugar Glider. I was very interested in taking in this little boy but the more I thought about it. I had worries and I told her this. Valcrow is a intact Male and had been there since I got my own SG's (3 years ago). I was sad that this Sugar Glider had been living alone without other SG's for companionship. I'm unsure if she had already re-homed the other Sugar Gliders she had or not or if she is choosing to just re-home her granddaughters SG since her granddaughter wouldn't be back home until the 15th. Now this lady is fairly old and has health issues.

I was extremely happy to learn she opted to choose me to re-home Velcrow. I was happy that I could house this lonely SG and bond with my girls as I have a big enough cage to house 2-3 sugar gliders. But like I said he is an intact male and I'm not positive if they are related or not. This being the main concern I have. I live in a small town and we don't have Exotic vets, the one I took one of my girls to wasn't very experienced but knew enough to help. If I were to take in this little boy I would have to travel out of town and as of currently don't have the means to do so. I would like to ask your guys opinions.

Have you checked the database?

Would your vet be willing to do a consultation with an experienced vet?

I don't think her gliders are registered. I believe she had gotten her SG from re-homing as well.

I'm not sure about this but I can ask!

Dawn was referring to the data base of veterinarians that treat gliders. If you click on the highlighted word vet, it will take you to the database.

Neutering is a fairly simple procedure if you can find a vet that is comfortable gassing the glider down. Your vet could join the Association of Sugar Glider veterinarians. They have videos on there of the actual procedure.
