Just curious to know if this is typical behaviour. Every few days or so, I find I have to empty my girls' sleeping pouch. They clearly have a favourite toy (these plastic, butterfly shaped bracelets you get at the dollar store) and every couple of nights they drag one or two of them out of the toy pit and up into their pouch. Today I pulled 6 out after only 4 days! What's up with this? I didn't think they were hoarders dunno

Thanks,
Lisette

My boy gliders do things like this too. I think it stems from nesting behavior. In the wild they will brings leaves and other similar materials to their nests to make them comfy. I think they do the same thing with toys because they like them for some reason and they feel like it makes their pouch more comfy.

Absolutely! This is very typical behavior, and I agree with JillMarie's analogy. You most likely have tail carriers as well. Try to watch them at night to see how they get their toys around the cage. It's pretty cool to see!

Tail carriers? I didn't think they could do that! I'm going to have to keep a look out for that :D

Thanks,

I've never seen Zoey do it yet, but I've seen a picture of a glider carrying a ring, it's super cute!

Yep! They will wrap their tail around something and carry it to their pouch.

I have tried to get a video of mine doing it, but its always in the playroom, and its quite dark so the vids never come out frown
What mine do is not actually wrap their tail around an item. They curl their tail up real tight, then slip the ring on over their head or around their waste (depending if its an open ring or not) and then they push it down their body and onto the tail and down into the curl.

Quite funny to watch really. Especially a chubby one like my glider (Gizmo) when she does it with a ring that is "open" and it keeps falling off her chubby belly LOL she looks so confused and tries again.

I have never been able to watch them carry stuff like fleece strips or leaves. So am not sure how they do that type of stuff. They do carry that stuff, I just havent been able to catch them in the act, but the rings....funny stuff there!

Mine does the same, he slips the rings (milk rings that I cut open) over his head and then wiggles them down like a hula hoop. It's hard to take pictures or video though.
Does anybody have a good picture?

One of my males had 27 milk rings and artificial greens in their pouch. Don't know how they slept in there!

This must be a new trick for my girls. They've never done it before, but now I'm finding every bracelet they have right back in the pouch every morning lol I even caught Sugar in the act with TWO on her tail! Haha! I love it!

Thanks,
Lisette
