My youthful male (7 months old) was neutered Wednesday morning. He's been doing great with my 3 year old female for the last maybe 4 months. It's just the two of them in a large-sized cage. Now he has bitten her between the shoulder blades - a thumbtack sized wound that appears to be scabbing over. She seems comfortable and is her normal loving self. Hard to believe that he'd do this while recovering from his surgery (this behavior is about mating, right?). If it weren't for her visible wound, I'd think all is perfectly with both of them.

Is this normal? Should I separate them? Should I worry or have her checked out? (this is a hard subject to find a good set of keywords to search on so, please forgive me).

If it is scabbed over, then it sounds like its healing. If he isn't bothering it now, then they are likely ok to stay together. If he continues to bother the area, or bite the scab off, then yes you may want to separate until the area completely heals and fur grows back over it.
