I just adopted a fourth glider last week. His checkup and neuter was scheduled at Rolesville vet in NC Friday morning... But when I went to feed him tonight, he had passed. He was fine yesterday!!!! But when I found him there was blood on his nose and around his anus. What the heck happened to my sweet boy?
They said he was fed hpw complete, like I feed mine. They said he just turned 6 months, so his price was marked down. How could something kill him so fast?
I'm also freaking out because I was carrying them in separate pouches during the day, but there are large mesh windows, they could nose each other... if this is contagious do I need to take my others to the emergency vet immediately?!
Please help.. My poor baby :,( I'll send a picture to anyone who can help.. It's not letting me attach it here

I am so sorry this has happened, and you might or might not need to be concerned. There is no way for us to know.

You need to put your deceased glider in the refrigerator - NOT the freezer - and try to find a vet who can perform a necropsy Friday to determine the cause of death. Start calling first thing Friday morning if you do not have a vet of your own.

Click on the word vet which will take you to our database where you can find vets located in your state.

Again, I am so very sorry.

Yes, I use Rolesville vet, which has an excellent reputation on here. Should I keep my appointment for Friday- do all glider vets perform necropsies?

No not all vets perform necropsies. You need to call before you go in rather than just taking the body.

However, if your vet doesn't perform the necropysy, he may know who does and how to send it.

Make sure you ask how much the procedure will if they do any testing other than a gross anatomy necropsy which is basically just looking at all the major organs of the body.

You usually have to ask for any additional testing but something you don't. Depends on what they find and who does it.

Sorry to hear of your loss. Just as an FYI - if your glider has been placed in a plastic bag (you can gently wrap the glider in fleece and then place in the bag) and put in the back of the refrigerator, you do not have to rush in a day or two for a necropsy. You've got a buffer of several days if need be, so don't feel rushed. I'm sure that this has all been taken care of so this is just for future information. Find a vet that will do a necropsy AND histopathology. This will, in many cases, give you the exact cause of death. If you don't have a vet that can do it, you should think about sending your glider to The SUGAR Group. They offer several different packages and have a wonderful one where you will get your glider back home in a beautiful little bag, a lovely poem and you will get a square on the memorial quilt so that the memory of your glider is always kept. It's a wonderful tribute. And more importantly, the findings of your necropsy and histopathology, kept confidential, will help gliders in the future. Something for everyone to think about.

Obviously this is waaaaaay too late for the OP, but I just tripped over this topic, and I thought I would mention it for future reference... Rolesville vet (Dr. Hummel) doesn't do necropsies, however they can refer you. I actually drove my glider over there myself - I believe it was part of NC State? They were super nice and helpful and relatively inexpensive. Not having to ship was also a plus in an overall terrible situation.

Either way - so sorry for your loss, as late as this is.
