(Mods I put this in Health since that is where the other cage thread is. I think it will be viewed more here.) I received a phone call today from (PPP) Perfect Pocket Pets. They would like to extend a hand out to those who own or received Martins cages from January until April 20, 2011. As you know (PPP) Perfect Pocket Pets has been in contact with their customers and been working on replacing cages from their customers due to recent events. Out of concern for all gliders and the potential of more glider loss from contaminated cages/wire they are willing not only to replace their cages, but also they are offering to replace any cages/wire purchased through Martins Cage Company that was purchased from January until April 20, 2011 with a safe wire starter cage. The purpose is to have a safe temporary cage for your glider until you are able to get a larger cage. All you need to do is to send an email with a copy of your receipt from Martins (or paypal invoice) to cagereplace@ sugarbears.com (the email will not work from here, but if you just copy and paste it, you will be able to send it.) Please help me spread the word to any one you can think of that has been affected.

I am (happily) quite surprised by (PPP) Perfect Pocket Pets and all they are doing - not only for their cages, but for Martin's as well? That is absolutely fantastic! Thanks for sharing this information.

LoL Aimee you're a month before and I'm in the month after though only by two weeks I missed it. Thankfully I have a great friend in you I am curious to know if anyone else noticed the "grape jelly" smell from their Martin's cage?

I just got news from (PPP) Perfect Pocket Pets, although their cages only seem to have been affected from Jan-April20th, they have come to see through emails already that is not the case with Martins cages, so they have changed it to anyone who has purchased cage/wire from Martins from October of 2010 until April 20th, 2011 to please contact them. Also, please keep in mind, they are truly trying to HELP so please keep this email to cases that are really looking for help. Thank you.

A 'grape jelly' smell from Martin's cages? O.o I did notice a distinct odor on mine, but I'll have to go sniff it again and check. I initially associated it with a strong PVC-y smell.

Does this include the square travel cages? My vet gave me one as a gift this last March.

I got the original email about 2-3 weeks ago. So far I'm still waiting to see results. I'm not saying they won't, but I am coming close to the time frame they gave me. I have not received a phone call from them, but I am happy to see that they are caring about my girls. Especially, since this is far beyond what I would have expected. Thanks (PPP) Perfect Pocket Pets!

Just realize that they are offering to send one of their "starter" cages, not the larger cages that most keep their gliders in (like the one's Aimee used).
I think it is very generous of PP to do this. And as Peggy posted, it will work as a temporary cage until a larger cage can be purchased.

I too am impressed with them on this situation, but I still will not support or recommend them and will still work with the MBP in regards to them and all other mill breeders and brokers.

I received a phone call today from PPP. They would like to extend a hand out to those who own or received Martins cages from January until April 20, 2011. Is this only for people who purchased ready made cages? What about people who bought materials from Martin's to build cages? I personally built 5 cages, and I know there have to be other people in the same position as I am... having to replace more than cage at once.

Diane, The issue isn't JUST with Martin's cages. It's cages from (PPP) Perfect Pocket Pets, Martin's AND homemade. The cages with issues are all pvc coated.

Can someone point me toward the thread where it was proved the problem was found to be with Martins? There are several threads here regarding the cage/wire issue. Some are from the Martins customers whose babies are ill or have died. If you contact Martins they are advising you remove your gliders from the cages but they are not doing anything as of yet to correct anything for their customers. Pocket Pets is offering a starter cage to those customers affected so that all the gliders can have a safe cage. Many Martins customers have the large expensive glider cages from them so IF concrete evidence is found by labs Martins will them do something for their customers. No solid liability found, tough cookies. So for now Thank you Pocket Pets for helping out even with other company's customers! Martins your customer service leaves me with a bad taste in my mouth!
