...this morning we took Punkin back for his second shot of the Ivermectin. Most of the scales on his little body are gone. There are still a few around on the body and around his ears. The hair on him is very scarce...but his skin is pink all over and it's beautiful. Our nights have cooled off some and due to the lack of hair he was chilled and didn't come out to eat much. So we have him on a heating pad and the food near by. As long as he gets the BML down that is the most important thing right now. He goes back next friday for his third shot. The vet said they had talked to a good many vets here is the U.S. and have yet to find one whose treated a glider in the shape Punkin is in. They are doing some more research on this and hopefully find the knowledge to get Punkin well along with any others in the future that might fall prey to the hold this Red Mange has on Punkin. The most important thing here...He IS going to make it and life is going to be the very best for him. We'll keep you posted...please say a prayer for him...
Mary

He's such a lucky boy to have found a home with you guys! I have every confidence that he will be 100% in a short time and be a very happy wee one!
Melissa - it is caused by Demodex mites - a very sad case.

Is there any knowledge how he was exposed to the red mange? It's good to know they can get that. Do you have any new pics of him? Poor baby, I know he breathed a sigh of relief when he got to you and got his first dose of medicine and it started working! Chey

...this is a picture taken two days after we got him. When we got him the skin was white and full of flakes from the mites and the loss of blood that they had sucked out of him. Since then the skin has started to turn pink and some of the flakes are gone. As he progresses...we will post pics of him. Mary

You and Charlie truely are the best! I'm so glad that he is getting better. What an angel the little boy is.
P.S. I'm happy to see that you were able to put to use the glider blankies I sent you! I'm very observant and noticed the dalmation print one in the picture. I'm so happy to know that they were making him comfy!

That poor baby, I wish I could understand how the owner could let him get that bad. I'm so glad Jamie got him out of there and to you. Give him hugs from all of my crew! Chey

That poor baby. Mary and Charlie, I don't know how you do it, I would just sit down and sob. Thank you for caring so much for these little angels, just shows what love can do (and, sometimes meds.). I still think Love is the key. You both are Angels.

I agree Karin, the love of glider angels (Mary and Charlie!) HAS to play a big role in it! I'm honored to just be able to read your posts, you two are just treasures!!!
