Since I have got Isis for almost a week, I was getting used to her and have been playing with her a lot whenever she's awake.

I noticed and realized that she's asleep most of the time, even at night.

She does eat a lot and run around quite a bit but normally she'll go to sleep. I thought that's normal since she's just an infant.

But recently I just can't help but notice that she does lose energy very fast and tend to get hungry a lot, so I asked my girlfriend to take Isis to the vet for a check-up since I was too busy.

Apparently Isis has roundworms.
Here are the symptoms:
1) Whitish coloured poo (very obvious).
2) Inactivity.
3) Always sleepy even though I hold her in my hands.
4) Sleeping all the time.
5) Lacking energy even at night.

It's apparent that she might have contracted it from her other cage mates while in the pet shop. So it's best to isolate her for now according to the vet since it's contagious.

Minimize playing, as she needs lots of rest and sleep. He gave her lots of medications for it, especially ones that need to be added in her food. The vet advised against letting her run and jump too much.

In next two weeks I will have to go to the vet again for Isis to get a jab.

If you guys have experienced this or know more about this than me, do post up and add more information. I would appreciate it. Thanks for reading.

Is she your only glider? Do you have other animals? You also need be very careful not to cross contaminate with other cages, pets or people-wash thoroughly with soap before and after handling her or her things, and be careful if she poops outside the cage to pick up-roundworms will transmit through feces. It may take more than one follow up to confirm an all clear when the time comes as well, as unless the eggs are actually shedding a false clear can present. How old is she exactly, and what meds did the vet give? You'll also need to watch closely for diarrhea, which can dehydrate and kill quickly, particularly in a young glider.

What is a "jab"?

She is my only glider. My friend has one too, and we live in the same hostel. They won't be playing together for a while.

Isis is about 2 months+.

When I mean jab, I meant injection.

Is the injection for meds, a blood sample, or something else? Know that for blood, only 1% of a glider's body weight may be taken maximum regardless of age, and in a very young or small glider it frequently isn't enough to do more than a blood count & simple items such as sugar, protein, etc, but not much else. To take more that one percent is dangerous for the glider.

Hope your little one starts feeling better soon....as a side note, unless you plan on doing intros and having the two gliders become a permanent pair, it's not a good idea to let them physically play together-gliders will bond with each other, and stress themselves into illness/overgrooming when separated-it's not good for them to be put together/taken apart from each other for just play times.

Keep us updated on her progress, please.

It's the injection for meds.

She only plays with the other one once in a while, but for now they won't be seeing each other, though the other one already has medications and temporary prevention.

I received a couple of rescues that had roundworms. They had to be treated every two weeks with round worm medicine (I believe it was panacur) for three treatments over a six week period. Roo also had round worms when I rescued him and received the same treatment for the same length of time. The poo is white and very smelly (more than usual). All three gliders were treated quite successfully. The meds were oral, not injections.

The meds that I have to give everyday is oral. But on the 21st of this month, I would have to return to the vet for her to get her injection. That was according to the vet.

I'm not sure what the injection is or the medicine on the back of his neck. The medicine vets here use on the back of animals necks are cats & dogs, for fleas and ticks.

I have no idea too, but I will definitely ask when I take Isis for her next visit.

Now her poo is very runny, but in the lighter shade of brown, I wonder if it's because of the cucumber I fed her just now...

What medicine did the vet give you?

He didn't tell me what was it, but it was some kind of orange solution for her.

I took Isis to the vet today, he didn't give her a jab, he dripped a sticky kind of medicine behind her neck. She was so scared just now that when she was put on the table she immediately ran and jumped to me. grin

He checked her for roundworms and apparently she's free from it.

She's way way active now, even during the day sometimes, and she loves running around in my room. It's good to see her recovered now, especially when she's so active and happy. She always calls for me when its around 5-7am. I would wake up and play with her, then put some food for her to make her stay in the cage.

Here's a picture of her.
