Hi just read your post - try using a butter dish - one of those plastic ones - that's what Junior uses because of his bad left leg and it work's perfectly for him - just a thought

Godiva was sleeping curled up again this evening. I also let her eat out her dinner out of a bowl. I have to hold her up to the bowl, but she raised and lowered her head so she could eat at her own pace. She's up to 5-6 cc's a meal. She's also maintaining hydration better. I'm still debating whether or not to sub-q her today. She didn't tent all day until about 6 PM and she's not tenting badly, but I don't want her to get dehydrated again, because we'll open a whole new can of worms, so I think I might give her a small dose of fluids here soon. Also, she is now lifting her head when she walks, where before she was kind of just crawling around with her head flat on the ground. And her head tilt seems to be improving, as does her head throwing. I think my vet and I might have hit the mark with this new med.

I just read this thread for the first time.

Have you received the results from the C&S by chance?

Sending best wishes for a speedy recovery for Godiva.

Judie, her C&S didn't show anything. Pretty much any bacteria she had in her should have been taken care of by the Clavamox. We are now treating her for meningitis... Today, I didn't see any more improvement. I don't really know how long this antibiotic will take to have a real effect though. The slight changes I've seen in her since I started the antibiotic seemed promising, but it's like she's stalled again frown

On a positive note, Godiva is eating enough at one feeding that I am down to 2-3 hand feedings a day. Also, I ended up not sub-qing her at all yesterday and she seems no worse for wear. I think she's finally eating enough to stay hydrated on her own.

Godiva has very soft stools today. That new antibiotic is obviously killing something, I just hope that includes whatever is making her ill in the first place...

That is her constant behavior, not a just a spell. I dealt with a glider with seizures for 3 years, so I am very familiar with seizures in gliders and I've never seen Godiva have a seizure.

It looks as though she is having neurological problems. Did they check her eyes?

How heartbreaking. cry Little one appears to keep her head low to help keep herself balanced and seems to go in a circle due to the head tilt.

Have you given her a bath? You can use a bit of baby shampoo with a small amount of water while holding her. Lather her up... then rinse her off with warm water. Dry her in a hand towel and then put her down your shirt till she is dry. A soft toothbrush can be used to brush her fur.

Godiva is nice and clean now. I used baby wipes and they've worked well. It's a lot easier to keep her clean now that she's not eating as frequently...

When that video was filmed, she wasn't able to hold her head up of the ground, she was too weak... She's gotten stronger since she's been eating more and can now lift her head, but she doesn't have much control over it, even still frown

Leyna,
I know you have a lot on your plate. agree But I think we need an updated movie of Lady Godiva! The current one made us cry, and we'd all like to see her doing better! What do you think? Ok, just an update would do, if you could? hug2

I don't know much about a sugar gliders behavior when they are sick but I do know alot about animals in general and it looks to me she is a strong baby. Most sick animals I have seen won't even try to walk around and I think it is a good thing for her to keep on moving - it lets you know she is not giving up...

Good job Leyna for keeping your head up and strong for your baby....

it took a long time for cosmos to get better, & yours is so sick. there will be times of plateau-ing, & then things will change & get better, then back to plateau-ing again.
it will be a long process. i really hurt fo you.
with what you have been doing, she is sure to come out of everything w/flying colors.
i wanted to be abl to see the video, but i don't know how to get it to come up, do i copy everything down & get out of gc, & go to the search button, so the pic comes up?
learning this computer for me will be a work in progress(slow one @ that!!!) i would think for the rest of my life.

Godiva is very perky today. I've been feeding her out of a bowl for the last couple days. I have to hold her, so that she doesn't dive in and I have to hold the bowl at an angle so she can drink out of it, but it works a lot better than using a dropper... So much less messy.

This morning, Godiva was very... Perky. It was hard to get her to hold still to eat. Unfortunately, she still can't eat on her own because she just flounders in bowl.

Somebody asked about Godiva's eyes... My vet checked her eyes and said her pupils look constricted. I tried to check them today and they looked dilated and didn't appear to have a proper response to light, but it' hard to tell with the cremino eyes. They are hard to see.

It's getting to the point where it's hard to say if Godiva is improving. Physically, she looks awesome, but I can still tell that she's very ill. I will work on getting a new video of her for you guys. I've had a rough time uploading videos though.

Glad to hear Godiva is doing better - even if she doesn't completely recover you can still love her forever - a handicapped animal (no matter which one) is a truely wonderful animal to love and cherish and they inturn will love and cherish you also - fond wish for her complete recovery

You're right there is something special about the bond you form with special needs animals. My first cat was a blind barn cat named Sleepy and she was wonderful... I've also had several special needs gliders, including Smegal, my little seizure baby, and Vanity my little tri-pawed glider smile

Godiva is a very sweet glider, regardless of health. If she can get back to the point where she is leading a semi-normal life, I would be elated. I don't want to compromise Godiva's quality of life just because I am selfish though...

I do pray that she might heal completely, but if is not God's Will... I pray that at least she might live an "almost normal life", in which I'm sure that with your love and care, it's "quality" is going to be a good one!

I know you are trying really hard Leyna, and I admire you for that.
There are a lot of prayers sent for her and for you. hug2
