Marsha...
You are such a strong person. I know how much having a sick one can take out of you...I only had to go through it for a few days and only had myself and Kylie to take care of. You have that plus your kids...I just don't know how you do it, but keep doing it because obviously it has been working so far. I'm hoping and praying that she will pull through!

Marsha, Thank GOD we finally know what is going on!!! I will be praying that it's in time to save her, after all you have been thru with her, you both deserve for her to make it!! At least now you know what it is and can treat is specifically!!! That will hopefully be the answer and she will soon be herself again and glidin around with you trying to catch her!!
Chey

Marsha, how are things today? We're anxious to hear that she's getting better!

I've just read a little bit about this bacteria, and what I've read is about people, not animals. But it is a penicillin resistant bacteria (therefore amoxycillin would not work) which (at least in humans) is naturally present and lays dormant in the "gut" of many people and animals, but which can cause problems outside the "gut" when the immune system is already compromised. Apparently it is commonly found as the main pathogen of UTIs and with respiratory infections. Respiratory distress appears to be the hardest part of the recovery.

I sure am glad they diagnosed the problem, and that they prescribed a non-penicillin antibiotic! Thanks for sharing this with us. For me, it meant something new to learn!

I wonder how prevalent this is in gliders?
