So ive had gliders for almost a year and a half now and though I know quite abit about them.. Im still learning each and every day! Ive been kinda curious tho about a few things. I have two females (Stitch and Button) And 1 Male (Charlie). Charlie and Button are lovers, they are rather cute. But it makes me feel bad for Stitch. She still plays with them and they except her into there family but when I decide to get another glider, is it possible to get another nuetered male with no issues. Do Gliders mate for life? What if a nuetered male came into the colony and wanted Button and not stitch? Would there be fighting... or would the new glider just know that button belongs to charlie. Im rather intrigued with how a colony works. I know alot is still being learned about sugargliders... but maybe someone with some experience can help me understand this so Im prepared when I decide to get another one. I know every glider is different, and having two males and two females should be ok.. ( as long as the personalities get along) But some stories would really help

Okay...so I can't give you any of the technical stuff about this - no facts and no numbers. But I can tell you what I think and what goes on with MY colony of six. If you brought in another glider, neutered male or a female, it'll work out JUST fine. It's possible that it will love Button just as much as Charlie. Or maybe it will love Stitch. The thing is - once they're introduced, they'll love each other, all of them. Before bringing in BooBee and Ozzie, I had Bandit and his girls. With the new boys here, the dynamics of the colony changed greatly. BooBee absolutely ADORES Bug. He does his best to mark her, he rubs his head under her chin, he rubs his chest on her. She LOVES the attention but I don't ever find them, just the two of them, shacked up together. Teeka LOVES Ozzie. She will follow him around and they play together. However, if anyone is sleeping in a different pouch, it's typically either BooBee and Ozzie together or Ozzie and Penny. Once introduced, they become a big, happy family (in most cases). They bicker, they cuddle and they play. It's a wonderful family dynamic. My feeling is that by adding yet another member to the trio, you'll only have more fun and more entertainment and each one will be happier for it.

Thank u for the response aimee! I know if I brought another glider in they would all be tickled pink, but button and charlie mate.. every time she is in heat, so I wasnt sure if that could make things difficult. Ive never seen charlie and stitch mate, I wasnt even sure if a male would mate with more than one glider. It would def be interesting to watch 4 gliders instead of three

I agree with Aimee, there shouldn't be a problem with bringing another male or female in the equation. I once had a colony of 5 males! And they were caged next to 3 females. I know there were no females in the cage with them, but all the intact males got along just fine.

I'd say go for it, with either sex. Now, if you get an unneutered glider yes, he will almost definitely mate with both girls. I'm not sure 100% how it goes in the wild, if there is a single alpha female or what-not, but caged, those intact boys definitely mate with all the girls in the colony unless their dynamic is totally off.
You could ask Dancing about her family colonies. She's had several that she neutered the male joey and left him in with the parents to help be uncle and raise future siblings.
