Jos, I agree. I think he lost sight in that eye not too long after this happened. He will adapt and be fine. He'll get along better than most of us would!

Melissa, I'm so glad you showed these pics and told his story. We tell people over and over again, to not have intact males together, even if they're related. Your pictures show what we're saying. This just as easily, could have ended in his death, had you not intervened.

I'm so glad he has you now and is on the road to recovery, pain free!

I was pretty sure his sight was damaged right from the start. I had hoped that he could at least keep the eye but it was not ment to be. I think loosing it was the best thing for him. He was clearly in so much pain and not getting better.

I hope to take him out of his collat fri and see how he does thru the day. Id love to keep him out of it but we will see how he does. so cross your fingers!!

I think i need to make him some new toys. I dont think these 2 gliders had much in the way with toys and im pretty sure they had pretty much no wheel. When i put some of the toys i have in with his mate it was like watching a child on xmas morn. Dang it gliders are smart and playful. They need things to play with and a good life. I just dont get why you get a critter and dont properly care for it. It just makes me so mad.

He is doing so well!!! He is no longer in his ecollar! He still does not trust me but is taking treats from me. I have given him play time with is mate and he was introduced to her new cage mates and it went pretty well. Im going to give them play time each night and hope to have him with them by next weekend. His face is healing very well.

Im SO glad he's recovering so fast and so well from this! He will be your best buddy before you know it! Just give him a little more time and a little extra mealies.

That is great news Mel!!! He is one lucky lucky boy!

This little boy has made such a good recovery. If you had asked me if i thought he would do so well i would have told you no. I just cant get over how well he has done!

He is not out of his collar and with his mate and one of my pairs! I started off my just pouch swapping and then i let them meet. I had planned on going slow but they took him in so well. His mate who i have named Isabella hugged him! I melted and nearly cried. She grabbed him by the ears and rubbed her head all over his chest. The very first night i let him stay in there cage i went to bed about 3 and got back up at 5 to check on them and little boy was in the pouch so i took it out to check on him. He of course crabbed his head off at me. After i put the pouch back in romeo the neutered male who is mate to sessile ran up and dove in the pouch to check him over to make sure i had not done anything to him! He would not leave the pouch till i left! Im just so glad he did so well and that my pair accepted this pair so well.

Im sad to say he still has no trust in me. This has just tramatized him so much. I think he will come around with time and even if he hates me for the rest of his life im ok with it. He is healing well and happy so thats all that matters.

The glider in the back missing hair on her head is Isabella his mate. She came here with the hair missing. It has not gotten any worse so im sure it got pulled in a scuffle or due to stress. Little boy is next to her in the back. The cremino is Sessily and the one laying on his back is Romeo

Oh this is just what I needed this morning! This story is one of hope and just makes me all warm inside. Melissa...you've done a fantastic job - what a wonderful (and lucky) little man!

Update!!!

This little boy is doing very very well. He has healed and looks great! I have named him Owen which is celtic for young fighter (thanks stef).

He still hates me but seems to be coming around a bit. Here are some pics.

WOW Melissa!!!!! He looks wonderful! I'm so surprised to see how well his little face healed up! You and your vet did a fantastic job.

LOL trust me when i say he can really give me the evil EYE He has calmed down a bit. He still crabs a lot bites a bit but he seems to be getting a bit better. His wound has healed so well. U cant even see the scar unless u really look close.
