Howdy !!!
Well Im finally done!! I was going to post on the other thread but couldnt get the picts to come up.. The girls didnt move in friday as I had hoped. I did one of the panels backwards and had to redo it, having been 5am I called it quits and went to bed defeated. But Saturday Morning we got busy and the rest of the cage was finished! My hubby even put in a lighted center for the girls! LOVE IT!! I feel SO good about the cage and am really pleased with how it turned out. Sat night the girls were all over the place! They move SO much faster in this one!
As promised heres what PVC hardware cloth and way to many zip ties can look like!!

Here is the last of them smile We put in one glider sleeping cubby, one built in ball pit and one toy box these are not removable. The New house has The large wheel attached at the bottom, the top has a smaller wheel where the lights are..
If your planning on building this Home depot sells zip ties that have an attaced circle piece to it, so you zip it down and the circle is in place, you can put your clips for toy this makes hanging things SO much easier. We coverd the top and sides in them so now we can hang what ever we want with out the need for curitan rings or what have you and every thing has proper support and doesnt pull on the screening material.

Yea the up grades were a little more spendy, but so worth the final look to it. After the lighting special zip ties, and yet another roll of netting for the non removable items, well my hubby was starting to think Ive lost my mind and we could have bought a wire or metal cage that size. But I still thing the price and final product, for the space they have the strength of the cage, and over all LOOK it was worth it. I hate the look of bird cages, or the metal cages.

That cage is amazing. I'd love to build one, but I don't think my fingers would survive. What's on the bottom of the drop tray that catches the pee and poop?

Wow! How awesome is that!? I love the black! How big is the gap between the doors? I love the idea of zip tying permanent hangers for toys! The pic of them is so cute! They look so happy and spoiled!!

Great job! Wanna make some for me? grin

I think the gaps on your doors are too big-mine got out! But, then again, your babies are bigger than mine... I had to redo all of my doors because the gaps were just like yours. They sorta had to be flush with the rest. But it does look WONDERFUL in black!!!

same question as everyone else - where'd you get the black pvc? and how much was it compared to the white pvc?

I've seen the black PVC at Lowes and Home Depot, I think it was almost twice the price but that's still not much considering a 10 ft. piece of 1/2 inch PVC in white is only 1.25-1.50.

Thanks for all the replies, The black PVC is about 3.25 a stick, so it was a bit more then the regular but worth it,the connectors dont come in black so we used the Krylon spray paint for plastics and let it cure for a day, I scratched it using my nails a file and a screw driver, to see if the paint would come off, and Nope it took a lot of force for it to even scratch unless my Fluffy gliders turn out to be igguana big i think were good. But I plan to watch it closely, the netting also covers most of the connectors so no prob there. The spacing of the doors "Gaps" is less then 1/2" and theres no way our babies can get out,the latch hooks fit nice and snug, although we are going to get another set and put them above the handles too just incase one of the babies or dog wants to try and unhook them. We put the girls in there to play before we finished it up to see how good the spacing was, that way we could fix it before they escaped. There is NO gaps on the sides it buts up really nice, better seamed then the metal cage I had. The bottom has a PVC tray that has the same hardware cloth over it, that slides under the cage and I use bird cage liners for the moment on it. I also put the tray from my old metal cage ontop of the tray. I have a drop cloth that I need to cut to size, its a really sturdy canvas that water doesnt go through so its just a wipe and go then wash in the washer as needed. We made it a lil smaller so it wont stick out and be seen as Look at my poo tray smile.
Suggie Mom I would make one for you if you were closer to me, I enjoyed the project so much. 2 days or so of working close with the hubby and kids It was great. Although I am going to have to wait a lil while before we do the add on, I need my fingers and wrist to heal up some.LOL

Beautiful!! How much did it cost roughly? Do you think the bolts were needed of would just zip ties work? And, was it pretty easy to make? I want to make one but I don't want to spend all the money on the supplies and then decide I cant build it because I am challenged with understanding direction. Haha

It wasnt hard to build at all it was laboring of zip ties that were the hard part. The directions were easy to follow, Got stuck once but that was it. This cage probably cost more then what it should becase we went black PVC,added lights, and built in baskets for the babies. But I have heard people who built the white one spent 130-150 on it. Now for the bolts, yea Ireally think they are needed. We had it ziped together as extra hands and it just wasnt very sturdy. We added all the botls and the gaps closed up and it didnt wobble. So yea its more money but worth it knowing they wont escape,

THANKS again for all the comments/praise on the cage, Im one luck lady to have a great hubby who helped and puts up with my hair brained ideas.

Wow it looks awesome! Hubby and I built this same cage last nite and finished it around 5 a.m. It looks so much nicer with black pvc! After it was finished I was worried about the gaps between the doors. So we cut out strips of the hardware net and zip tied it around the gaps, so when you open the door the hardware net hangs down about 3 inches past the door frame so there is no chance they will escape. As my gap is larger in a couple spots than your is. Congrats on the new cage!!

I almost bought a large bird cage and I am so glad we went this route. I love how easy it is to attach things to the hardware net, compared to a bird cage.

We found this cage very easy to make, but boy did my fingers get tired with all the zip ties, gosh!

We also made several corner "shelves" out of the hardware net. I'm thinking of taking them down and putting fleece edging to make them pop smile
