Thanks...well..hes still not his active self. I just feel terrible. Joe says he seems better than yesterday...but I just keep expecting the worse...he does seem better a tiny bit more active...I got his cage all set up again with more water, some more fruits, mealworms, turkey baby food and some banana baby food...well he went for the banana babyfood...he wont touch the mealies (must be painful to eat harder food..) he had some licks of a grape and plum pieces...so i poured some gatorade over that in case he comes back for more later..then he moved onto the water dish and just drank and drank and drank...Poor guy...then he was tryin to back off of it and started getting all dirty and his little hands and feet were getting baby food all over them so i grabbed his hands and he held onto my fingers so tight... i gave him his meds again for the night. I just....I guess I was hoping fora huge improvement from the fluids...if hes not a little better by tomorrow, would you suggest I bring him back for more fluids? At least hes peeing, and he pooped a little at the vets office. Im also going to call Midwest tomorrow to see if they got the results in yet. Its so nice being able to come somewhere and share such an awful experience with others...I talk to my b/f and cry to him...but all he can really do is reassure me and hug me, and watch with me...but he doesnt understand like you guys do, so thank you. Just the look in kuzcos eyes breaks my heart....If anyone else has other suggestions, by all means, Im listening.

I know this is so so so so so (there just isn't enough room for all the So's) hard, but we're ALL here for ya, Babe, And I mean that, Hun. Let me know if you need anything, and don't worry, Kuz is a fighter and he will be just fine, I know it. Hang in there, and keep us posted.

LuvYou, LuvAmes!

Jen, call Dr. Ness...any behavior that is not normal may clue him in what else could be going on. BTW...did he look in his mouth really well? Leave a message and he will call you back.

Ok...well this morning...I found kuzco out and about...actually he wasnt 'about' he was hanging on the side of the cage...so I went in there and put out my hand and he climbed right on(which isnt like him either, he usually is VERY sweet, but he doesnt really come to my hand unless i have food for him) maybe he knows im trying to help him as best i can. So...I called the vets, and I asked if he needed more fluids or what, because hes still not eating and hes still very weak...Dr. Ness wants to hospitilize him...not sure for how long, but when I bring him in, Ill ask...he said he needs more than just fluids, so we'll see how that goes I hate leaving my babies anywhere where I dont know exactly whats going on, so thats going to be hard on me. I wonder how much thats going to cost...Karin, maybe youd know more about this, but I wanted to do maybe a payment plan, since Kuzcos surgery was $400, and I dont make that great of money at work. I mean I'll pay anything I need to for him, thats not a problem, but I just would like to do some sort of payment plan or SOMEthing, because I cant keep taking out tons and tons of money, and all within such a short period of time...I dont know how any of you do it, theres been much worse cases than mine, and Its so depressing and stressful, how do you all manage? Ill keep you guys updated...once I drop him off and hear from the vet about him.

Jen, I know how hard this is on you and yo don't want to leave him. But they will be able to give him the medical attention he needs including the fluids. You have to be strong for him. As for the costs, can you contact the evf for some assistance. I know it is hard to ask for help, but sounds like you need some. Praying for the both of you.

Thank you Alicia. Well..I left him there, and cried the whole way...the nurse kept saying she was sorry...so hes there, they told me I can call as often as i want and...im going to call around 1 to see what they've done so far and how hes doing. I called the other vets, and somehow the culture results still arent back yet. As for the costs of him being hospitialized and all the stuff that goes along with it, the estimate is between $98-209...which isnt too bad...but its still a lot considering what I've paid so far through all of this. Its VERY hard to ask for help..and besides I wouldnt know where to start. I feel there are probably much more important people that would need that money more than me...

Well I just called for the checkup on Kuz. Dr. Ness says hes doing very well, he said he seems to have perked up a little after given more fluids. He said he gave him an injectable pain med, along with an injectable antibiotic, and of course the fluids with vitamins. He says hes also giving him some herbal treatment (karin you called it, lol) to boost his immune system, which is fine with me, as long as it helps, i dont mind. Theyre going to keep him overnight to watch how he does, he says he has some glideraide in the cage as well. He said he'd call if anything changed at all , and to call in the morning around 9 am to check on him again. so thats that...if i hear anything else today Ill letcha all know.

Does he plan on doing any more testing or anything to find out why Kuz keeps regressing, or is still a wait and see on the test results? Jen, yesterday, did he check is mouth and area to see if it showed anything else? I trust Dr. Ness though, but is sure is frustrating.

I will call and ask that right now. He just looked at his teeth and felt the swelling to see if he was in pain, he didnt really look inside his mouth.

Oh Jen...I just got online and came straight here to check up on Kuz. While I'm glad that Kuz is getting some extra special care night with the doctors, I know it still must weigh heavy on your heart since you've spent every extra dollar (and then some) for Kuz these past several MONTHS and the poor little guy just keeps getting worse. But hopefully this time, we can get to the bottom of it and he will finally be as healthy as you have hoped he would be. I most definitely think that if they can't give you a payment plan, you should ask for a little help from the EVF, and since most people don't even pay that back, and I know you SO well, and they would welcome you if you say you'll pay it back over time. I know you well enough to know that you'd pay every single dime back as soon as you could. And, I mean, it's not even like you have spent hundreds and hundreds over the past couple days, not too mention the hundreds you've spent on tests, vet visits, and medicine for him these past couple months. *sigh* Girl... You know too, that while I'm usually brokeer than YOU, lol, If you need anything, any help, if I can send anything at all, just let me know...please. I am pasting in too, the link for the financial aid request form, maybe you can fill it out, and you can get some help right now with Kuz's vet bills. Keep me posted, Hun. LuvYou, Ames!

It sounds like your little guy is in extremely capable hands and getting everything he needs. That's good to know. If he'll eat the BML, it's the best nutrition he can get, too. Keep us updated on the little guy, we're still pulling for him!

OH, JEN!!! I am so, so sorry! Does the vet have any idea, or could maybe do a necropsy to try and find out. It won't make the loss any easier, but might help other gliders down the road. My heart is with you. I'm going to move this thread to Real Stories.

I'm sorry for your loss. He was working on my heart and now I will miss him too. He is now at rainbow bridge rope dancing. He is pain free now. Btw... try to get those results still. Maybe those results will help other gliders in the future.

Thank you guys...I just never imagined it coming to this... and xfilefan..i guess I just never imagined being a part of 'real stories' ...so im glad you can leave this here till tomorrow...just to make me feel a little better for the time being. Im pretty sure I will be having the necropsy done on him. Im not exactly sure what that entitles, could you guys explain? I think I might want to take him home with me after all is said and done..to burry him myself...but im still not decided about that...and if i can even stand to see him that way...I just dont know....Charlesex..thank you...Luckily, Gus has two other cagemates...one in which is Poe, who was kuzcos girl...when he came back from surgery she just licked and licked him...so...thankfully they all still have each other.

Jen, I am so shocked, I really thought he would pull through this. I know how upset you must be. There really isn't anything anyone will say that will make you feel better, just know we are all thinking about the both of you. I know how you are about your babies. Take care of yourself and know you did all you could.

I am so sorry for your loss. I wish I had seen this post earlier. I had a glider with an absess for 6 months. Four teeth were pulled and three cultures done. He was on Baytril for 5 months and after the third culture we changed meds. In two days the new meds Clavomox worked for him and he was well within two weeks. I am so sorry. I just posted this for others to see in the future. Actually the first culture said that Baytril would work, but sometimes I think their system gets other bacterias when they are week. the Baytril seemed to keep him under control, but never would go away. I spent over 1,000 on him and his face was lanced many times. It seemed such a pity that we could have changed meds before all the teeth were pulled and his face was cut into so many times. The only reason we pulled the teeth was because we were looking for a passage for it to drain. His teeth were perfect and not decayed. It seemed such a waste. Once again, I am sorry, but maybe at your loss, it will help someone else along the way.
