I dont think we are exactly off topic. when you have a trio there is always the possibility of having 2-4 of the same sex same colored joeys... so how we tell them apart comes with raising a trio.
I dont think anyone would be ok with jumping into tagging their joeys, but it is rather an interesting subject...
I have 2 grey boys that are 9 days apart. I can tell them apart now, but i have no clue what ill do when they catch up in size!! i can rely on telling their personalities apart like i do with their moms, but at first glance i cannot do that.
is there any way to just stain the ear?? I havent heard of tail hair tricks or toe nail tricks.. what do these involve doing????
Kayla I've thought about it several times I actually asked a few friends awhile ago about something of this nature a friend was going to give me a non breeding group of leu's and I was like what the heck how would I know. I thought it would be super cute to dip their tails in different colored koolaid (purple tips orange tips.. etc) I asked around the only concern was maybe over grooming that if I did it to really dilute the stuff then they would probably groom the sweet taste off pretty quickly the I've never tried it but I might. My quad has the ability to throw leu's so I might have to think about it soon.
I don't think the concern is non toxic coloring we have plenty of natural ways to stain a glider.... Heck Raspberry's would work pretty well IMO my concern was the gliders over grooming the spot.
No problem, here is what I saw in my trio this afternoon. Could be either a plat colored MO, creme, or a still cooking grey, which would you prefer and I'll talk to mom.
My trio is twin sisters and their hubby. Spice ( the mom in this pix ) had twins before and her sister was amazing at babysitting. Cream ( her sister ) has a joey about 3 weeks IP, I'm hoping everything will go well with her too.

Isnt she??! I melt every time shes in my hands!!! I love her face markings... This is her daddy, hes a silver mosaic... and her mom is in the second pic... shes a 100% leu het
Checked again this weekend and we are getting close Lily is having a FABULOUS mosaic girl won't say more til know for sure but I couldn't see a stripe! Lotus is a decent distance behind her maybe 3-4 weeks.
When I have had trouble telling twins apart (usually greys or WF), I take a good picture of their faces, they usually have a different stripe... some have longer and thinner, some have chunks, and some swirl to the side a bit. If that fails, I carefully snip the fur at the VERY tip of ones tail, then the one tail grows a bit more square for a while, allowing you to distingush until you find other differences.
Ok well I can't keep a secret and I was taking a picture of my parents and I turned mommy over and if you enlarge you can see hair is coming in but its still a little early but mom just POPPED that baby and honestly I think its because she is so relaxed which is SO good for my girls Anyway here is my "pickle" joey
