WELL, technically I reside in NC. I'm located in a little town NorthWest of Charlotte. I travel to SC regularly and resided there temporarily for a bit. I'm originally from Virginia though and would love to be able to move back there one day.
I currently share my home with 6 wonderful gliders. Gliders have been part of my life since 1997. I am a small scale USDA licensed breeder.

Re: NORTH CAROLINA - 12/22/04 06:42 AM

if you ever need a super vet go to dr dan johnson at avian and exotic animal care in raleigh on creedmoor rd. he's phenomenal and saved my gliders life 2 yrs ago. to me he's the best in the country.

Re: NORTH CAROLINA - 12/22/04 02:46 PM

I have heard of Dr. Johnson, from quite a few sources outside of GC. There aren't any vets in Jville that i would take my gliders to. But thankfully i havent had a serious problem, a little calcium deficiency on one female but a little diet change and all is well.

Re: NORTH CAROLINA - 05/13/05 03:03 AM

Ok, I'm the FIRST and OFFICIAL REZ DOG to post on this thread. I'm from the Cherokee Indian Reservation in beautiful Cherokee, NC. Yup, Beau, Chloe and my family are tucked away in the Smokies. I noticed somebody from Asheville and somebody from Canton. I teach school in Asheville and I know right where Canton is (I saw Blue Highway play at the Colonial in Canton in Oct. 2003). By the way, can any of you folks close to me recommend an excellent vet? So far I've found Dr. Bolt Lee DMV in Asheville. I'm not sure if he is the only one, but his receptionist said he works with gliders (my son also has a bearded dragon [Fireball]).

I'm in Charlotte. Just moved here in August from Chapel Hill (there for 2 years). I'm still looking for a young glider pair (MM or MF, preferably), so if any of y'all are looking for homes for your joeys, let me know! I've found a breeder who's about 2 hours away, but I'd prefer a small breeder where I can meet the little guys before deciding to take them home. Plus big breeders can be very squicky.

Re: NORTH CAROLINA - 10/24/06 05:37 AM

Hey all, I live in Needmore down in Columbus County (between Whiteville and Tabor City) on the SC line. I'm thinking about getting a pair of gliders, preferably unrelated for breeding down the road. Does anyone know of a rescue service in the Carolinas, or a nearby breeder who's expecting? Thanks, and nice to meet yaw

Re: NORTH CAROLINA - 10/24/06 04:10 PM

Ok, thought I'd already posted here! I'm in Albemarle (for those of you in Charlotte, it's at the end of Albemarle Rd. lol). I work in Matthews currently and attend college at Pfeiffer University in Misenheimer. Needless to say, lots of travelling...
If anyone is interested I have four male joeys looking for homes. Another male will be available in about 3 more months (only been oop for about a week and a half!)
Thanks,
Emily

Oh yeah, and a get-together would be awesome, especially for those like meself that have seen more gliders over the internet than real life. Count me in

Re: NORTH CAROLINA - 10/26/06 03:15 AM

I'm here in Raleigh, NC. Right by NCSU. In fact, I study there (Animal Science FTW). wink

Someone should compile an organized list of all this so there is less sorting to be done by the average passer by. smile

Re: NORTH CAROLINA - 11/29/06 01:54 AM

We live in Richmond County... That's Rockingham area. I used to live in Wilmington, but love the 'small town' life around here. Still looking for a 'great' glider vet, that doesn't require a one to two hour drive. Have called around and no one I've talked to inspires great confidence.
(Did you notice, one of my glider's name is TITAN.... give you a hint where I'm ORIGINALLY from?)

I got my little male the week before Christmas and he is my lil bud now, but i'm thinking about getting a female but not sure yet. Anyway I had no idea that there was people fairly close to me that had gliders.

Thanks Sara

Re: NORTH CAROLINA - 01/18/07 03:35 PM

What kind of glider things are you looking for?
There are some great vendors here on GC and you can get everything you need for your gliders from them.
Foods, vitamins, pouches, toys, wheels, etc...
You can even find clothes that are made specificlly for safely carrying your glider with you.
Have fun!!! :O)

Re: NORTH CAROLINA - 03/25/07 02:35 AM

Here ya go Brooke:

Harris Blvd Vererinary Clinic
5710 W. Harris Blvd (exit 18 via I-77)
Charlotte, NC 28269
704-596-7436

This is not an "exotic" clinic but the doctor is very knowledgable in gliders and takes his time with each patient. I've been there twice with my gliders and I was more than happy with them. Everyone there was very kind a caring.
The costs were VERY fair.

Re: NORTH CAROLINA - 05/09/07 04:08 AM

Just joined. I live in Kannapolis, NC, right outside of Charlotte, though I use to live in the Winston-Salem area. I can recommend a very good, but small vet clinic here in Kannapolis. Griffin Avian and Exotics, they don't treat dogs or cats, just exotics, and it's right down the road from where I live so thats nice.

Re: NORTH CAROLINA - 07/06/07 04:30 PM

I was told I could post a question on here. I'm in Wilmington,NC I am trying to get a glider from Asheville. We were planning on driving up there, but my husband hurt his back and can't make the 5 hours trip and I can't do it myself. So I'm asking if anyone is coming this way, this weekend and could help me out I would really be greatful. Or if a couple of people along the way, could meet up and scoot her over here. I'm not asking for someone to come the whole way unless they are already coming this way, but anywhere closer, would be great. Please PM if you can help. I'm in need for something this weekend most likely Sat. but I'm sure that we could work something out for next week. I just need to get her home. She's coming from a fellow member here. Thank you in advance.

I have a friend in Raleigh who can get her down to me if someone can get her to Raleigh.

Re: NORTH CAROLINA - 07/06/07 05:24 PM

I can get little Calliope as far as Black Mountain or Hendersonville. I cant drive much further than that though. I dont feel comfortable driving too far from my hospital as my doctor says I could go anytime.

Brooke, thank you for offering to help. That is so thoughtful. I really would love to get Calliope to her new home soon. She is 10 weeks oop and is going to be forever buddies to another female suggie, Topaz smile

If anyone thinks that they could help with this. Please PM me or Jaelea. Thanks so much! smile

Re: NORTH CAROLINA - 09/04/07 01:40 AM

Hi, I just moved to Durham to go to grad school at Duke. I was wondering if any of you who are living near (like 30 min or less) Durham would be interested in swapping glider/pet sitting services? (Or getting paid for them.)

I've got two sugar gliders and two cats who might need care during school breaks and what not. I wouldn't mind sitting for your sugar gliders (or other animals- dogs, cats, bunnies, fish, etc.) in exchange for sitting mine; I have a pretty open schedule outside of school breaks. Please message me if you're interested!

Ok I new and don't have a glider yet. I'm trying to do all my research first. I have a ton of questions but right now I'm having a hard time finding a place to adopt. I can't really find any breeders on the internet, and even if I did I would want to make sure they were a good place to get the gliders from. Can anyone help me. I noticed there are quite a few of you near me. I'm in Statesville.

Thank you for your help!
