Were having huge difficulty with Honey and her wound.. the wound is aross her shoulders and upward to her neck right where the ecollar would go, so hence Ecollar is not working, and reguardless if we get it on, she basicly trys to pop her head off litterally, : it hurts her basicly way to much, we only did it to try it and also to get a ejacket on her... so she wouldnt have to have the e collar on her at all and safe and the Darn thing to Heal... Iv had her almost 3 weeks she is a rescue.. and I need some ideas... Im going to the vet to get her in the Jacket with some Help.. Once we get it on her she will heal up an this issue will be over.. I just need to get her to calm down enough to let us do it.. bad thing is she pit bull bites an I mean serious ripping into us, she put 6 deep bites into Denise when we were attempting this and my Skin on my hands are way to thin.. but I took a few bites too.. hence we have to wear gloves when this is attempted from now on... this is the thing.. her wound has been streches further as of last night from her itching it.. she is on antibiotic and itch.antibiotic, pain and swelling remover..the pain, itch, swelling antibitoic is all in one we put on the wound in a drip Tresaderm is the medication.. also Oral is the Baytril.. Also the Collasate Hurts her she also goes after herself if I put it on her.. I need some Advice with some of the ones who have delt with a wound this large thing is it is NOT DEEP its just like two skin layers deep..

ok I dont see my post I responded so Ill re do it.. Yes this baby used to be known as Jewels.. We do have the scarlet oil, as of this week, Im really scared to use it since it stays in an oil form I heared if its Digested it can cause serious issues... Hence I havent used it yet at all Untill I can get the wound covered an her from picking aroudn at it while she grooms herself..

not discounting the wound or anything but I have had mating wounds way worse than that. Did they culture the wound at the vets office to make sure the correct antibiotic was being used??

Hmmmm.... I think I just came up with a solution here! I've been working on designing something that can help both Zeki and Honey...she has scarlet oil (I gave her some last Tuesday night) but this little pit bull biter doesn't want to stay still long enough for any kind of covering put on her wound....but I think something just broke loose in the design modification department!! Thank you Angie! (scampers off to cut and sew.....)

yes, we have kept her going over to the vets once a week for check ups.. He said it could take up to three months, for it to heal it would just depend, and since she is adimate in touching at it and making it worse now.. were gonna just get the jacket on her..

To bring everyone up to speed on Honey and her issues: Zeki ended up bringing her to my house...apparently she's been digging at herself which is making the injury larger. By the time they got here, I'd had enough time to make--test--pitch--remake--and retest another jacket. We cleaned Honey's wound, put some scarlet oil on it, a little gauze, and the new jacket. I also clipped Honey's nails so she can't continue to cause damage that way & made SURE the jacket was going to work. By the time Zeki left, Honey had curled up & fallen asleep in her pouch. Zeki is going back to the vet tomorrow to get some more meds to help Honey continue to recover. But I think the jacket will help keep her from digging at herself...I hope.

Awesome job Denise! Can you take pictures when possible so we can see Honey's jacket? I'll be sending prayers your way for little miss Honey. Please, keep us updated!

ok Im on my 4th Day with her Jacket.. she escaped twice but this time instead of an hour to get it on it took me around 5-10 Min, the jacket is working the wound is finally!!! HEALING!!!with the scarlet oil, in just 3 days it went from 100% to 75% Healed .. and closing.. Honey has bonded to me so much she crawled out of her bra pouch and right into my shirt.. I was shocked to say the least, with her comming to me hurt and crabby, and not allowed to touch her to now she just wants me. She doesn't even want in her cage, but she goes in long enough to eat drink, use the restroom and comes to the door for me to pick her up in my hand!! and into her bra pouch... it's awesome.. she hates being in the Jacket. I had to tighten the straps more so she wouldnt escape, wich now doesnt let her ball up but thats ok I would assume one week of this Jacket an we can remove it an know her wound will be So Much better.. the Pain Medicine which is in a Powder form also has helped with collecting the "oiled" part of the scarlet oil to her coat an makes it all stick to her wound for the night.. She sleeps with me, and I switch her over to Hubby for a 4 hour nap and im ready to go with my little girl.. Im thankful the other gliders are doing good, I have been giving Honey most of my time she needs it right now and Misant is happy enough with his, feather an toys and seeing Honey on the side for dinners.. Im just really happy with all the help thats been given, done, and the phone call's it helps Ease my mind Im in the right direction of things, since Iv never had to deal with a wound like this, though with Vlad, I had worse just different location.. Many Hugs, and Im glad my Gliders are in this Huge Family of Angels helping me and Looking over them with me I so hope to meet many of you in one of the Sugar Get togethers

Connie, there's a picture of the jacket in another of Zeki's posts....under "B&D Ecollar/Jacket" or something (I've lost track just that quickly...)
But it's working and THAT'S all that matters right now. I don't like using scarlet oil, but.....it DOES help faster than a lot of other things.

Update... Honey had her first night in cage, "secretly monitored" after a few different things done to the jacket, to prevent her from geting it off herself again.. and she went the entire night an this morning with it on her.. yay!!! so her wound can restart agian to heal finally..

Thanks, Denise and Bourbon! I've also got a jacket in the works. Have tried several prototypes and am very close to a successful final result. I was wondering if this jacket was anything like mine and if there was any way I could help. My jacket is more aimed for neuters and other problems in the front area.
I'm so happy to hear the good news about Honey!!! I can hardly wait to meet her!
P.S. I looked at the pic and the jacket isn't like mine. Mine wouldn't work for mating or shoulder wounds. Love the pic of Honey wearing the new jacket! Such a cute little fashion model!
