I have now ruled out the Wodent Wheel and it comes down between the Custom Choice Cruiser Wheel and the Stealth Wheel. (Unless someone out there introduces me to yet another wheel! lol)
Opinions, comments, facts...it's all appreciated!
If your choice is the Custom Choice Cruiser Wheel...please include your favorite options!
Thank you for your help in making all these tough decisions!
I would go with the CC wheel! Im telling you they are great! My friend has one and i can just sit for hrs watching them use it. I have 5 that im picking up a week from sat and im excited. The CC wheel is made to mimic the gliders natural movement. in the wild they do not just run like a hampster they jump. This wheel can be made with a bounce and the glider has to hope and run to move it. You can have it made the way u like. With no bounce med bounce and full bounce and as tall as you would like.
I have a CC wheel for both of my cages and they run in it all night! I have the full bounce for both cages and it has helped one of my gliders lose weight. She went from chubby back to her real weight.
When it comes to the CC wheel though, if you have joeys or will have joeys or have petite gliders, a half bounce is safer and better because the full bounce will help them to lose weight.
There have been too many tail injuries from the wodent wheel and I don't like how it's closed in. The gliders can't jump in them like the CC & the stealth wheel.
Other than the bounce, the CC Wheel is customizable. For example, one of my wheels sits about 14 inches from the bottom of the cage to the bottom of the wheel and the wheel is about 4-5 inches wide. You can change the height, width and bounce.
Full & Half bounce come in blue, yellow or red
The green one is a therapeudic wheel, it has magnets, so it's more for gliders with health issues.
My oldest Stealth wheels are probably around 3 years old, and still going strong. I had to throw away a Cruiser after only about 3 months of usage. I will definitely only buy Stealths!

Did you tell Bourbon? What exactly happened, if you don't mind me asking?
I've had both of mine since last October with no problems.
I had a stealth that got really woobly after only a few months, but haven't had problems with my CC (or with my other stealth!)
Stealths are great wheels if you want a good, quiet wheel that is a certain size and shape - also, you don't have to wait for it. If you want bounce, or an unusual size or other custom choices, order a CC. But, since it custom, they do take longer!

Call Bourbon to order a CC wheel. Her phone number is in her signature. They are awesome wheels! I have 5 and am picking up two more this weekend at the SGGA because some of my cages only have 1 wheel and are feeling deprived!
The stealth is a great wheel also, but I like the options available with the CC. The gliders get more exercise and have a blast hopping on the inside, often while one rides the outside. The tension can be adjusted so it is easier for joeys or petite gliders to get it going. I have two side-mounted and you can easily make "trim-trax" with squares of wet/dry fine grain sandpaper and small nylon bolts. Bourbon describes the stealth as a Cadillac or a Rolls Royce while her wheel is a Jeep. It's FUN!
How did I not know this wheel existed??? I'm such a goober...Amanda that comparison is a GREAT way to see the differences in the wheels. Now I just need to figure out if my pair would like full or half bouncing better.

Does the CC have the side mount option? Anyone know? Or wait...does that defeat the bounce?
Yes, the CC can be side-mounted. It is connected at the "axle" of the wheel. There would not be quite as much bounce as on a stand. The degree of bounce is determined by the location of the bearing assembly - it would be centered for no bounce, and offset from center for half or full bounce.
I think she has a website that tells about them, I was trying to find it but not much luck. I think even though you go to the website you still have to email, pm or call her to order one.
Helen , I am so very sorry you never gave me a chance to rectify the wheel problems, you recieved the very first Wheel, and made a post regarding it, I seen the post called each person including trying to reach you for several months.
I gave each and every person a chance to get their money back, a replacement, or a way to fix it. Everyone I spoke to chose to fix the issues, I had never heard from you, not a call returned, not an email, not a pm , nothing.. I ran into you several months later after you had made a post stating you threw your wheel into the closet, I asked you then if you brought them with you, as I would have bought them back from you, you then told me you were not worried about it, and said you were going to give them to your rats.
I have tried in every way I could to rectify the whole situation, and you NEVER allowed me to do it.
again I am sorry you had an issue, again I would have bought them back from you FULL price.
You run a business , and it is IMPOSSIBLE to offer assistance if that assistance is not wanted. How would you like it, if someone had an issue with one of your products, and you were never contacted about it.What if you would have went out of your way to contact them regarding the issues and they didn't tell you ANYTHING?
again I am sorry,
PUBLICLY, I am saying again, send the wheels back to me, and I will refund your money plus shipping. This has been going on since OCT of last year. You have yet to contact me.
I was uasing them. It BROKE. The part that holds the wheel to the PVC pipe in back, wouldn't hold it anymore, and it kept falling over. I tried everything I could think of to make it stay, but the 3rd time it fell, I found a glider trapped under it. It wasn't worth the risk anymore at that point. Why would I expect a refund on a USED wheel, that just plain BROKE? Why would I bother to contact you and say it broke after a few months of usage? I gave them a Stealth, and that was the end of the problem for me.
I will only recommend products to people that I have had GOOD luck with, that have proven to me to be good quality. 3 years versus 3 months- that's a no brainer which one I'd buy myself next time. And I would only recommend what I'd buy myself.
Some have asked about a side-mount option for the Custom Cruiser. Here are a few pics of the CC mounted to a Klubertanz cage and a pantry shelving cage. Some of my side-mounts have wing nuts instead of regular nuts for easy adjustment or removal for cleaning.
My CC's on the floor of the cage are all secured with fleece on the upright PVC pole for safety. The design of the wheel allows for lots of movement, ergo the bounce feature! Even my stealth has been known to walk around the cage when they really get it going.
I have had a few occasions to contact vendors when I had a problem with their product. It seems that most would WANT to know if there was a problem with their product, and be given a chance to correct it. I haven't heard of any other CC's that just "broke". Wow, Helen! Did the PVC itself or the housing crack or was it a problem with the tees and poles in the stand not staying in position?
I think if something breaks within a few months of purchase, you owe it to the seller to at least contact them and figure something out before bashing the product. Anyone I've dealt with in regards to glider products is concerned about SAFETY first and profits later. If you'd contacted the seller and been blown off, then you might have room to complain. Any wheel is subject to normal wear and tear, and I'm not aware of a wheel maker that actually manufactures their own PVC and other pieces. They are assembling from what is available to them. It's not their fault if they were provided with a few bad pieces from their suppliers.
I'm sorry I just have a problem with people that complain about their problems but do nothing about them.
My gliders like the stealth wheel , But they LOVE the CC wheel . I use both wheels in my cages & if only 1 wheel is being used it is the CC wheel. Bourbon is awesome, she will work with you so you get what you want.
