Hey Dee... or whoever is here. You don't want me to let them snuggle up in a blanket? Is that what you're saying? So only let them stay in the pouch don't let them snuggle up in my lap... or did I read it wrong?

AWE!!! I hope you'll be around either you or Burbon because I have my babies on my lap and Pixie came up to sniff me and I thought she was going to bite like she used to and SHE DIDN'T. I just think that's what my problem has been I'm getting nervous and then she picks up on that. Just wondering if they can come snuggle in a blanket or not because I read no blanket. Lemme know! This is so great!

Nope I was just going to write it's too good to be true but now she's moving around in the pouch coming up to my hand and biting softly. She has never bit this softly before but she's biting. Almost like she's telling me to go away... she starts chirping when I rub the outside of the pouch though.

GEZZ!! She won't stop chirping! And it's LOUD! LOL. Sorry for all the posts I'm just so happy! I know that lots of people have suggies that bite them on occasion. Not hard bites but soft just like she did a little bit ago. I know Dee you said Tinkerbell won't go back to being pouch protective but she seems so scared right now... like she has gone back to her old ways. I haven't heard any crabbing but she certainly doesn't look like my snuggle bunny.

erica, what I want you to do... is avoid her, learn her movements in the pouch, with your hand in there.. you will learn to feel her movements, using your palm as your guide for her head, when she moves her head, you will feel it shift.. remain calm at all times.. when you feel her teeth on you, don't wait for her to bite, remember you are learning her..move your finger/hand.. slowly and gently, to the other side of the pouch.. keep your fingers clear of her head..I will be here waiting on your next update.

I think she bit me only because I just fed Kirby... she only did a tiny soft bite. Nothing like she used to do.
Hmm... I don't think I understand what you are describing.
I couldn't resist petting her. I won't do it again.
I gave them some lickily treats. She LOVES the yogart.
You want me to avoid her? I don't think I understand what you're telling me to do exactly. She wants to snuggle with me but I don't know if I can let her. She wants to snuggle up in my hand and I pet her then move it away and she wants me to let her stay under there like I used to do. I almost want to say we're good now... she's my little angel. I almost started bawling... she's chirping like a little chick.

She wants to snuggle with me but I don't know if I can let her. She wants to snuggle up in my hand and I pet her then move it away and she wants me to let her stay under there like I used to do. this is correct Erica.. this will encourage her to come to you when she wants petted.. so you pet her a few times, then move your hand away..to the other side of the pouch, but still inside of it.. learn her while your hand in in there.. you can feel when she starts to move, you can feel when she is sniffing your hand, you can feel the difference in her breathing.. these are the body languages of her while she is IN the pouch.. just as you took the time to learn her out of the pouch, you also want to learn her when you can not see her, when you can ONLY feel her.. listen carefully.. when you feel her teeth.. just touching you.. before she gets them all the way on.. I want you to make a sound.. not the hissing..(that sounds like a snake) a threat, it may scare her.. not blowing on her, in fact don't even look at her.. the sound i want you to make is sht sht (not a word.. no i didn't leave anything out.. but make the SOUND sht sht do it quickly and very close together.. that is the sound moms make to tell them NO, it will only get her attention, gives you time to move a little bit out of her way. do not over use that sound.. use it ONLY when you feel her teeth.

Oh... I can see her B. I can see her the whole time while she's in the pouch...
She eventually gave up after trying to snuggle with me and just went back to sleep on the bottom of the pouch.

That's the sound I usually make when she bit me before and she backed off. This was during play time when we first started.
I didn't even get time to make any noise when she bit me today she just did a soft bite and then went away but I think that's because she smelt food.

It MIGHT be because she smelled food, but sometimes gliders communicate with their teeth too. For example, my Nika will place her teeth on me (like you described) when I am doing something she does not like. As owners, our job is to realize that our gliders are uncomfortable BEFORE they have to use their teeth-even if they're just placing their teeth on us. So if she does it again at a time when you haven't just fed Kirby, you should definitely think about what you were doing that might have made her uncomfortable.

I wasn't doing anything when she bit me. My hand was just resting in the pouch and I thought she was going over to sniff it like she was doing before. Then she bit it and then I pulled my hand away. It was a very light bite though.

Hey guys... no one really answered my question on the blanket part so I'll try again. She was just out LOL and I didn't pick her up or anything she was crawling under me trying to find a place to snuggle up... that's what she does to try and get the oop she's back out again. LOL. That's what she does when she wants the blanket and can't find it.
LOL. She's back in the pouch now. She loves snuggling with me in the blanket. It's a glider sized blanket I cut up for her.

erica.. listen carefully.. YOU are trying to learn her, you can can keep insisting on the blanket, but we are not working with the blanket, we are working on YOUR HANDS, BARE, LEARNING her. blankets are for security, and she needs to feel secure with your bare hands. is she insecure with your hands, does she need the blanket to feel safe? if YOU are afraid that she is going to bite you, then take you hand out and leave it out till you are more comfortable with your bare hands in there. now if you are going to come back with how you used to do this or she used to do that.. let me answer something now.. and she USED to bite you too. lets get back to what you were doing with your BARE HANDS. are you doing the 10 pet count with her? what are some of the things you are noticing with her movements? when she is coming up to go out.. are you allowing her to if that is what she wants? it is 7:30 where I am, so the " bonding time should be up.. time for them to be back in the cage awaiting the playtime.

They get up really late... I'm working on changing their schedule. You're right. The blanket should not be here. She likes going onto my lap under the blanket instead of in the pouch. But those are her old ways and we don't want to do that I guess. I'm not scared of putting my bare hands in there I'm just saying she'd rather be on my stomach then in the pouch. When I pet her for the pet count she does chirping then sometimes when I move my hand away she looks at me like why are you stopping? LOL. She's being such a DOLL!!!!!! I gave her some more yogart hopefully that's ok to do. She loved it. I'm using my fingers and she's only licking it. I feel comfortable with using my fingers instead of the straws now. She hasn't even tried to bite me and I'm getting so much more comfortable around her then I used to. Like I said before and you guys said it's a matter of us both needing to learn to trust each other. These guys are so great! They are my baby dolls.

Having your hand in the pouch IS doing something, though. It's possible that she was letting you know that she did not want your hand in there. All I'm saying is if it happens again, think about what she might be trying to tell you.

Hey... today was ok. She bit me a few times... she is doing softer bites but I doubt that matters. I can't figure out what I'm doing wrong. You guys say to watch her body language and her breathing but I can't quiet figure it out.

Did she bite you during playtime or when you had your hand in the pouch?

When I had her in the pouch... It's soft bites... but I'm sure that doesn't make a difference. She's grooming me lately... not with her teeth but with her tounge. Man those suggies have rough tounges!!!!! >.<

I've been using the pet count... I thought we were doing so good. I won't give up. I hope you guys realize how much I apreciate you guys!!! Hopefully I didn't mess up bonding time because I didn't play with them last night. I wasn't feeling very good and went to bed early.

Oohh. That makes sense. Ok I'll do that when she does that. But she was crawling on my stomach when she was doing that. LOL. She wanted to curl up on my tummy and fall asleep. My pet count? I did 10... and moved up to 15 then to 20. She doesn't seem to ever bite me when I pet her. Only when we're just chilling out.
