Ok, this is pretty weird and kinda gross but here goes... my 2 gliders, Pickles and Peanut, are sisters. Pickles is the older sis (about 8-9 months old) and Peanut is younger. Anyway, Peanut has been very interested in Pickles' genital area lately - she's constantly sticking her head down there. Today, I noticed that she was actually licking that area...ewwww. I have no idea why she might be doing this. They're both females...sisters in fact! Is this normal behavior?

Its normal..they are grooming each other. This is learned behavior from the parents. You have nothhing to be worried about. Angie

[:"green"]Gliders instinctually keep the nest clean by eating the bm's & urine of each other. This is probably what you witnessed. Otherwise, it is possible that the one is in heat and the other is simply cleaning the discharge from her. Either way, it's an instinctual way of keeping the nest clean. To us, it seems gross. To them, it's perfectly natural & normal. It has nothing to do with sexuality, just with hygiene. Don't worry, they're just being gliders.

Ok, whew - good to know!! I'd heard of gliders grooming each other before, but not in this particular manner. Thank you all for your help!
