I've got a strange question. Our little boy is 12 wks OOP. We've noticed that sometimes his pom pom hangs down REALLY far. It is usually after he has been all warm and cozy in his fleece pouch. My question is has anyone else noticed this on their boys or is something wrong? He will be getting neutered in the next couple of weeks. It isn't red or looked damaged in any way, and it doesn't seem to bother him. It just kind of concerned my wife and I because we haven't noticed it on our other 2 boys. When I mean it hangs down it looks like it could fall off any second. There is just a small skin flap that it's connected by. I was just curious if this could be a temperature regulating thing like in other species, where the testicles will relax and constrict to maintain a stable temp? Any info that can be provided will be greatly appreciated. Thank You!!!

That's exactly right-it's a temp thing. And it's normal. Doesnt' look like much holding it on when it does that! I believe the word my husband used to to describe it was 'dangley'. They don't do that once neutered, even if the pom is left-nothing there that requires temp regulation. Hope this helps.

Thank you for a quick reply. I kinda figured it was a temp regulating mechanism, but it freaked my wife out!!!

In our case it was my husband-lol. Between that and the first time he saw one floss, I don't think the poor man will ever be the same...

I agree too. When Flurry is really relaxed, his pom's hang about 1/4 of an inch to 1/2 an inch from his body. And they are usually damp. LOL, I'm assuming from Tink's doings. They must be one relaxed and happy couple.

Flossing is when they have their 2 part penis fully extended-on some it's long enough to reach over their heads-and are cleaning it. It looks like they're flossing their teeth with it-hence the term. Sometimes mistaken by new owners as worms coming out of the cloacal area-it isn't. Can be a bit of a shock the first time you see it! (Remember, NEVER pull or cut anything you see coming out of the cloaca-unfortunately it has happened-consult a vet first!).

Cut!!?? OMG!! Thanks for the info, I had never heard of this before. I imagine that would have been quite a shock had I never heard of it before and all of a sudden saw it happen.
