Hi these things never happened to me before and I can't find any information on this at all
I know this sounds weird and I have a very strict rule for my room to have nothing dangerous in it which also includes anything in a closed package or even makeup
My glider is 12 years old and u heard her playing with something for 10 minutes until my girlfriend found out it was her used tampon
I think it's cotton but it looks like it was chewed in a way that my glider possibly didn't eat the tampon but probably sucked the blood from it
I don't know how dangerous that is and currently I can't contact a vet for advice at this time
She doesn't seem to have any known problems showing and I know gliders tend to hide things

I am not sure if the blood will affect him, I am more concerned with the tampon material.
Until you can get in touch with your veterinarian, I would offer grapes and watermelon to keep him hydrated, you don't want any tampon material to make him constipated.
Keep trying to contact your vet.

I would keep the juicy fruits going for at least another 24 hours.

Glad to hear that things are going ok.

She's doing so much better now
The vets worry was that she may have swallowed cotton she seemed to only swallowed a tiny bit and she pooped
It out and her poop us normal now so what vlood she consumed has left her system
Recently I have another problem with a new glider I got from a breeder just two days ago but she's getting exams right now either due to calcium deficiency or a damaged back or even a bacteria infection due to contact with a cat (the breeders problem due to him leaving her at a house where his partners cat had full access to the cage (she was a rehome due to being returned to him)
It's costing me a fortune this one and he never mentioned any health issues and he's a 5 star breeder but sold this one on kijiji instead of his website
My father picked the glider because he didn't want me to spend a lot of money on the gliders the same guy was selling on his page but it has now officially cost waaaay more than what my father expected due to the vet bill being double her cost
I'm paying the bill of course and I'm no longer gonna let him do the calls when it comes to gliders
I've been an owner since 2011 and had my current one since 2012 since she paired with my first

I've never seen a baby glider walk wobbly and hunched before at 5 months old and I'm upset with the guy because he's 5 stars pedigree and has all only positive reviews so I'm guessing he sells the sick batch on the side at kijiji
Also I just discovered that he uses canned minute maid juice for his vitamin mix which is too much for gliders

I am glad the episode with the bloody tampon is over.

As far as your other little one goes, have them treat her with antibiotics. If the symptoms of HLP came on rapidly it would be from a bacterial overgrowth in the gut They will need to be treated with antibiotics and oral calcium.

Keep us posted on your little ones.

Exams are over she has calcium deficiency and the tpg diet I have to gradually take her off it because of the used juice (too much sugar)
Waiting on blood tests for the level of calcium and bacteria but she's only suspected of calcium deficiency
She will be handicapped for here on but that's OK as long as she gets better and no longer stress
They gave me inflammation/pain medication for now and even said it was a miracle she didn't have bone fracture but she can't stay in the big cage until she recovers due to the risk
I'm gonna keep her in the traveling cage till I get a smaller one (I don't like keeping her in such a small space)
Max 5 days but will try tomorrow to get one

Check out the Critterlove diet. I think there is someone in Canada that sells it. It is one of the most tested diets out there,

Hi again
My old glider Yuki is still around she's doing better than before but she became a very picky eater and her weight is now stuck to 89g -94g she may have turned 13 either this month or in 2 months I don't remember
Unfortunately I'm currently in debt but luckily the infection seemed to go away and I'm in debt due to vet bills with multiple gliders I had one pass away due to an unknown tumor which was too close to his organs so removing it was a no go and he was the baby of this one he lived to be around 12 and the vet was surprised of how long he lived before he showed signs of needing to be put down

So I gave Yuki the meds and after 2 weeks it seemed like it didn't fully take care of it but she got much better past the 3rd week now she's just picky with food

The two gliders I have now are not pared as I took in my new one malon she is handicapped due to calcium deficiency from last owner she also has ptsd

Random question because I'm broke and I can't make a vet appointment as everything from October till December of 3 gliders worth of tests cost a huge sum

Malon she is kinda young not fully matured and I noticed she gets scared easily much more than the average new glider and she pees like a skunk smelling whitish pee
Once in awhile when I pick her up or take her from my shoulder in my shirt (she has panic attacks when a hand sticks into the shirt she's in even if it's me she's on and also in a pouch big time because the previous owners had a cat that would get into the cage and scare her

This is when she pee white and it literally smells like skunks spray but faintly

Is this what skunking is in gliders and she is female

Because she is in my care she originally couldn't climb or jump due to swelling tissue and bone structure but now she's climbing all over the cage and I have the bottom patted down with blankets in case she falls due to the calcium situation

She also sometimes has constipation but I fixed it due to her eating the hpw mix too late I have to give it to her around 12 to 1 am because it's like she's afraid that a cat will come in her cage

She is too scared to bond with my old girl currently

Quick summary my old one is much better even though the vet doesn't know if the meds worked completely and my new glider pee white and with a skunky odor and was wondering if females skunk (she has ptsd and is easily scared of almost everything)

All gliders can skunk. They do it when they are scared. Thankfully it doesn't linger, it is poof you small it and then its gone.

Are you on Facebook? There is a Exotic Pet vet corner. They have a sister group that helps people raise money for their pets vet bills. Go check it out.
