I'm planning to introduce my lone female glider (she lost her cagemate) to another pair of gliders (1 female 1 male).

The problem is whenever I put the cage close (but far enough that they can't grab each other's tail) the pair will start to be agressive(?) In a sense both the male and female will lunge to the cage at look at the lone female. Are they being agressive or ware they just being curious? The lunging gets kind of loud so it makes me worry. For the time being I used a blanket to cover the lone glider cage where the other gliders cant see her.
I did use a small part of blanket that has the lone female scent to introduce to the pair initially they were curious about it, grabbing and smelling and peeing on it, but after awhile they just dropped their interest.

Another question is my lone female glider has been making this high squeaking sound following with a hiss. Some times it goes squeak hiss, and some times it goes squeak hiss squeak hiss hiss. May I know why is she making this sound? I have been observing her, whenever she pees or poop, she doesn't make that sound.


I'm planning to do swapping of sleeping bags once their new sleeping bags has arrived.

Are they all close to same size?

How long have the cages been close together?

It does take some time.

The squeak hiss usually means she's in heat, but she also may be trying to get their attention. If she's in heat, she will normally only do this for 3-4 days

They have been close together for more than a month.. but they're still lunging on to the side of the cage and seems agressive.. so I'm not really sure what's going on.

Ah.. ok then I will just let her squeak and hiss I was worried and everytime she does that I go check up on her and she just stares at me with a "what?" Face haha.

Have you done any pouch swapping? I would start there to get them used to each others scent. Also check out this article.... How to introduce gliders.

Hi I have been try to do scent swapping but the pair always avoid the lone glider's sleeping pouch and go for the neutral one.

Once you get more sleeping pouches, you will have to swap frequently since they are marking them to cover the scent of the other cage.

Patience and time are your friend.

When you feel they are ready, be sure to try morning intros with them in their respective pouches and offer a clean neutral pouch and treats in a neutral non marked area like a small clean "baby proofed" bathroom or tub, maybe even a tent if you have one. When using the bathroom, be sure to seal all holes or cracks in that room as well as stuff a towel under the door.

Keep a towel or a piece of fleece in case you have to break up a fight (they may ball up). It will keep you from being bitten.

You may have to introduce them one on one. Keep those together and Wait a few days to introduce the third glider.

Is that why they are lunging and slamming themselves on the cage? To mark their scent?

Alright I will wait for the extra pouches to start the swapping again. I did try swapping the sleeping pouches but the pair always goes sleep in the neutral scent pouch instead of the lone glider's pouch, any way to solve this?

During the time of swapping pouches only, (not face to face introductions). There should only be the one pouch in the cage.

When the gliders are up to play and eat, take all the pouches out. The one they they slept in will go to the other cage. The extras can be washed. Same in the other cage. The purpose is to make them sleep in the pouch that has the other gliders scent. They will get used to their scent that way. It makes face to face introductions a bit easier.

pouches should be swapped every other day. Yes they're going to mark them, and yes it will get a bit stinky. But it will get them used to the other gliders' scent.

After about 3 to 4 swaps, I'd start over with fresh clean pouches. Especially if they are super stinky.

I see I kind of jumped and skipped in my explanation above, sorry about that.

Hello here is an update about the gliders.

I have been doing swapping pouches on a daily basis. I lifted up the blanket for the lone glider too.

The paired female has been marking the side of the cage where the lone glider's cage is located. Every night she has been very aggressive, even with her cagemate. He just went to sniff her and she gets very angsty that the both of them squabble.

Every night the paired female has been crabbing and trying to fight with the lone glider, biting the cage trying to get to her.

I really feel helpless at this point now... Please advice

Is she the alpha?

Is this every night or just recent?

Are you spending tent/ bonding time with each cage?

Are any or all of the gliders bonded to you?

I think I would slide the cages a bit further apart for now. Some intros take a lot more time.

Yes, she's the alpha after my paired male glider got neutered.
Every night it has been like this.

I will try my best.. I think this time round I will swap the bag every fortnight.

I had a female alpha and she acted the same way. I had to wait almost 2 months before she calmed down. My new glider was a Joey, and I knew he would have to grow more in order to go in with her and her female mate.

You may try to put the males together first. Put the female in the single male's cage with his scent.

She is likely to throw a fit, but may come around in order to go back in with the boys

I guess I will just do swapping of bags for now at least for a month or something before I lift up the blanket of the lone glider.
