I feel like it's kind of late in the game to be posting about this, but I figured I'd see if anyone has seen anything like this before.

Booster is 7-8 years old. I got him in the fall of 2016 when he was said to be 5 or 6. Over the past year he has been vomiting a lot. His activity level has not changed. He bounces around, plays normally, eats normally. He just vomits. I have been to three different vets, they have tried all sorts of antibiotics and different stomach meds, and it always comes back, or doesn't even make a dent. I have tried omitting different foods to see if he is reacting to something, but am unable to pinpoint any one thing. I am at my wits end and several thousand dollars in debt. Does anyone have any experience with anything like this?


I feed him foods from the approved fruits and veggies list, plus mealies and ensure. I have *tried* to switch him to critterlove several times but he will not touch it.

I have never heard of a glider just vomiting.

Is there a chance that he has something caught up in his teeth and it is causing him to gag and vomit?

How is his weight? Is he losing weight?

Adding questions to Feather's questions:

Is he going potty/ poo ok?

Is he spitting out the insoluble part of his mealies, fruits and veggies?

Water type of water source do you provide?

Water is filtered when I can get it, but filtered or tap doesn't seem to make a difference.

It is all liquid whenever he vomits.

His weight has not changed in months: right around 120 grams. The vet thought his poo, while normal consistency, looked unnaturally dark and worried this was a sign of ulcers, so I cut out more acidic foods and he went on antacids for a while. He seems to respond better to tummy meds. Antiobiotics do nothing.

Water source... I'm sorry... I meant what type of container do you use to give them water?

I use bird silos and shallow dishes.

I mainly use shallow dishes and change them twice daily.

Could he be having problems with meal worm exoskeletons? I had a similar sounding issue with one of my gliders a couple of years ago. Her first human never gave worms but when I adopted her she got them as treats along with my other glider. Within a few months she started doing a gagging/choking thing reminiscent of a cat hacking up a hair ball. Figured out it was the worms after a couple of vet visits. I cut them out of her diet and she has been fine ever since, no more gagging!

Sorry I did not see this before! The vet was worried about this at first, but it turns out the answer was helicobacter. I am guessing Booster's previous owner may have had ferrets because they are common carriers, and it can live in the gut for years before showing symptoms, and it can re occur after seemingly being cured. We got on top of it by giving him antibiotics and probiotic yogurt. Without both of those, it just kept reoccuring. It is better to think of it as being in remission than cured. I have never been able to get any of my guys to eat the probiotic paste that the vet prescribed.

A good yogurt would work just as well as the stuff the vet gave you. Just go with something like Yoplait original.
