Hello everyone. I just acquired today 2 new residents. I foster for a small rescue in my town and these too needed somewhere to stay. They seem pretty healthy and I uave decided on the HPW diet for them. They are young only 9 months old. They dont have much in there cage but it is huge. The rescue doesnt really have toy donations or anything for me to use. So I'm here to see about any recycled home things I can use! Thanks in advance. Any advice is welcome!
There are a lot of things to repurpose for toys and foraging.
I have Breath savers pucks, tic tac boxes, plastic Easter eggs, straws, plastic bottle caps strung on a piece of fleece, and plastic shot glasses with a piece of fleece stuffed in it.
Army men, plastic dinosaurs, and ping pong balls from the Dollar tree, plastic dinosaurs, barrel of monkeys, acrylic bracelets, all make excellent toys to put in a small tray or bucket used as a toy box. It will have to be picked up daily and tossed back in toybox.
Straws can be laced through the bars of the cage.
They should have a glider safe wheel or treadmill so they can run off their extra energy too.
What part of Kansas are you from?

Recycled household items can be very useful, especially in your situation, and The Dollar Tree, Goodwill as well as Garage Sales can also help keep the budget way down.
Places like The Dollar Tree always like to get their holiday items out way early, so you might even be seeing some Easter items very soon if not already which means Easter eggs, baskets, etc. Valentines has been out since not long after Christmas
