Good afternoon! I have 2 older girls about 5 months old now and 2 younger girls 2 months old today.
I was wondering how old should my lil ladies be before putting them with my older girls? I am doing scent swapping and their cages are by each other but I recently put a towel up because one of my older girls was swatting threw the cage bars and stresses out the littlest girl.
My two little onee are tiny!! Momma avoided them when they were about 4weeks oop and I dont think they got a lot of nutrients they needed and I got them right at 7 weeks. The two of them combined are still smaller than my smaller older girl.
I heard somewhere that all should be under 6 months for intro or all older than 6 months for intro? And I know if that's the case we would be waiting for the lil ones to be 6 months before joining cages. I just wanted to hear what yall thought and I'd love any tips on these girls getting along and it being a safe experience and what I should look out for during intros?
I heard balling up with noise is ok but balling up without noise is deadly?

I would give the smaller ones a little time to catch up size wise before putting them together. You can continue scent swapping. You could even introduce them and if it goes well allow supervised play time until the littles catch up.

I have to agree with Feather. Size matters. I had 2 girls that were 4 years old when I decided to add a neutered male. He was 9wks Oop when I got him. He just had to grow a little more when I got him. Within about 5 -6 weeks he was big enough to do intros. It went well, and has been with them ever since. He's now about 10 months old.

Thank you so much for replying!
I am conflicted on how spice acts with the lil girls. She will go into their pouch and love on them and vice versa and the lil girls are just super curious and want to be with the big ones. After two of the positive pouch sessions I felt comfortable with spice being with them during playtime and she balled up and fought with both of them! One in her cage and the other while she was on me... sugar is my other big girl and shows no interest at all, she would rather go off and play.
I definitely dont want to do any more intros until the girls are bigger and more bonded to me even. I just wasn't sure if there was a good age, and what I should be looking out for during intros... like I said the two pouch sessions went over amazing and very lovingly! But then the next morning during play its attack the babies...

When I introduced Stewie to the girls it went really well. So let me back up...

Stewie being a single could smell the girls who were out of his sight, but he was within 8' of them. The girls were curious of the strange glider smell too. They could hear him rattle around and play too.

Since both girls are bonded with my husband and I, we do let them out for supervised play. Dot I believe was the first to jump on to Stewie's cage which is situated where she normally doesn't go. Lots of sniffs with no bites, but I was on my last nerve and didn't allow this unexpected visit to last long. About a week later we did a morning intro, and it went really well. That night was very comical.

I put 3 dishes in various areas of the cage, both high and low. Dot was out of the pouch first, and began on 'her' dish. Stewie came out and slowly approached her. When he got close, Dot sat back on her butt, stood up, and started slapping Stewie in the face. He backed off and found another dish to eat from. Fiona came out later in the night. Dot did this slapping thing several times over the next week. I felt he was being taught manners. But I'm not sure.

Stewie also understands Dot is the alpha glider. He has challenged her from time to time, but always backs down before they start to ball up.

To this day Stewie will slap things when they are new or different. It's so funny!

That is very funny! Spice has slapped me before when I spent too much time with sugar. I feel she gets jealous lol! Maybe that's why she attacked the babies during playtime?
I really appreciate your responses and giving me your experiences. I've had gliders before but I've never had to or tried to introduce them into a single cage before so it's very new territory and scary for me. Especially with the lil ones being so small.
I read chasing and crabbing is still ok intro behavior? The balling up is the one that confuses me. I've read that all balling up is bad and I've also read that balling up with noise is ok but balling up without noise isn't...
I feel I should just err on the side of caution and assume all balling up is bad even though pouch time is positive.
I will definitely be waiting till the lil ones are bigger before doing playtime again. Maybe by then spice will be used to me smelling of the smaller girls

You're welcome!

Chasing and crabbing is normal. Balling up is a whole but her matter... You'll know....
