Hello everyone! I`m a long time lurker who finally made an account. Please call me Vitali! I`ve loved animals my whole life, and have always had a soft spot for small exotics. I currently have a hedgehog named Heathcliff who is the light of my life! For a long time I`ve been interested in sugar gliders, and I think I`m finally ready to start getting serious. I`ve done tons of research about the cage, food, care, and everything else I can read! I think they really are a good choice for me, and I am very excited to start my sugar glider journey soon (but not too soon, haha. You may see I`m currently in Japan, and I wouldn`t get them until I get back to America). I`m a big fan of rescues. My two dogs are puppy mill rescues, and Heathcliff was a retired breeder (from a reputable hedgehog breeder). However, sugar gliders seem hard to rescue... The local small animal rescue never has them (which is good!) and CraigsList is always a little sketchy, since you never know if you`re supporting a mill breeder. So I think I`m going to meet half way in the middle, like with my hedgehog, and get an older pair, probably from The Pet Glider. That might be the only question I still have that I can`t find info on right now... Between two, three, and four gliders, what do you all recommend to a first time owner? Two is nice since I have a lot of time with both, three is a more secure colony, and four is safe in case something happens (which, of course, I don`t expect! But if I get an older pair and a baby for example, I might want two babies so s/he wouldn`t be left all alone if the older pair passed away). Is four too many for a first time owner? Assuming I`d get a big cage and don`t mind the expense of extra food/ vet bills/ toys. I`m so happy to learn with all of you and am excited to introduce my suggies when I can get them! Thanks a bunch!

Hutch hasn't been Stateside all that long. You can read about his adventures with his Round Table Group in Glider Talk & Traveling. He had his four before coming Stateside.
We look forward to hearing about your travels both before and after you get your gliders

Thank you for the warm welcome! I plan to binge all the Round Table threads soon, haha! When I tell them that, it'll make my narcissistic fuzzbutts' night! On second thought, I probably shouldn't tell them... they're already pretty full of themselves. The last thing I need is for any one (or more) of my squeaky turds to feel they're due any additional attention due to a celebrity status.
