Hi there,

I have a vet appointment tomorrow, but will not be able to sleep unless i can put my mind to rest.

My female glider woke up tonight making a new squeeking sound every 10 seconds or so, she will do a couple squeeks, almost like sneezes but not, shake her head and rub her head on things around her. She does not look swollen, took a bite to eat and had a treat, but is acting out of the norm. She is also going to her pouch more and VERY crabby, more so than usual.

Any thoughts would be great! thanks.
Ryan

we have also got a lot of wildfires in a province over (I am in Alberta, fires in BC, lots of smoke).

Could this be just a reaction to that? my guy seems perfectly fine. Just my lady.

I'm sorry no one has answered your concern, but it sounds like your little girl needs a vet asap. Air quality may have an affect on her breathing.

Please keep us posted.

she seems pretty good this morning, took a treat, not making those sounds anymore (shes sleeeping, maybe why?). I have her vet appointment this afternoon so hopefully they don't find anything bad. fingers crossed.

If the smoke from the wildfires is bothering you or if you can smell it, then she can definitely smell it. That could be it, but I'm glad you have the appointment today.

You didn't mention her age, so there are several things that could be going on with her.

Please update us after the vet visit.

I am going to move this to our Health & Hygiene Forum now.

We had our vet appointment. Nothing seems to be out of the ordinary, she said her lungs and heart sounded good, slight wheezing, most likely more to do with the smoke. My girl was rubbing her face on things as well, so it might have been like an irritated nose type thing, but I am giving her some antibiotics just in case and some anti inflammatory just in case, as the vets recommendation.

The last 2 days (I would assume cause shes not feeling great) she has been really irritable and sleeping in her own spots (not cuddling with her man). I assume this is ok, I just feel bad cause hes a big wimp and needs his lady to cuddle him haha.

And answer to another question was she is almost 3 years old. But for now we are looking ok, I was just super worried. I am a little less stressed now with the doc saying she seems fine.

That is good, just keep an eye on both of them.

Glad the vet felt it was nothing serious! Probably once that fire is out or moved on, she will feel much better! smile

agree There are so many fires in many places. Smoke can cause much damage to bodies both human and animals.

I can relate to your little lady. I live in minnesota and the smoke has drifted down here...its so strange to see the sun glow a dull orange, even at noon.

Anyhow, I have asthma and allergies and am suffering terribly. I have to take regular breathing treatments just to get through the day and my poor African Grey is struggling too....I have 2 hepa filters, one in each end of his cage. My gliders seem to be doing ok and also have a set of hepa filters at the ends of their cage.

Hopefully we will see some air quality improvement soon.
