So I come home from work and as usual go right in to check on the girls. Instead of rushing to the gate for a bit of honey and to be let out. (actually it was weird they were up this early) they hung towards the back top of the cage. I cleaned and adjusted the wheel and Lucy hopped right on and started a marathon. Wendy just perched up in the corner as her tail made wavey motions very slowly like a snake. I finally used the side door to get Wendy out and she was very skittish like I was a new person and she has been hanging out at the very highest parts of the room and just staring at me. At first I thought it was my imagination but nope, she's definitely looking at me the whole time. She's not mad but still skittish and she wouldn't take a live cricket (first time for that) but she did munch on a freeze dried chicken neck. so I'm not going to push the matter just leave her be and see what happens, just thought I would put it here just in case.
edit one just noticed that wendy sometimes lifts her rear leg, or maybe alternates like a dog when it has to pee, but more of a stretching motion, also saw her doing it with front leg. probably just a cramp? plenty of water around and even some pedialite.

Well, mine do this when they have been startled. Something could have happened while you were gone. Thunder, a car horn, or any loud noise.Maybe they had a visit from a mouse. Or another house pet. Or it could be as simple as a new smell. Like changing soaps, cleaners in other parts of the house. Barometric pressure, moon phase, storms if they faced this without you, they do revert back to instinct and become wary. Just carry on like things are normal. You may have to step back and re enforce the bonding. I used to go in the room during storms and talk to them. Especially when we are in the camper. We went through a few tornado warnings and had to evacuate. That was interesting. The leg stretching may be just that. But watch it. These are my experiences. I hope this helps. Just watch them.

That makes a lot of sense. They get comfortable and then an event occurs that reminds them to "be wary" like you said. Can't for the life of me think of what could of spooked them. I can't afford any type of security camera right now so I'm trying to figure out if I can use my lap top camera for that. I'm soooooo good with computers that it shouldn't take more than a year or so. Lol. Any one else wish they could just dial up your gliders while your at work to check on them? On wed I have the old ladies bridge club to start my day and they go crazy for a new picture or video of the girls, they also loved the glider-vator, ( which incidentally everyone agrees that is a horrible name, so I'm open for suggestions...) Night glider peeps!
And thanks Dawn! I love how no one here trivializes glider concerns.

Just backing up, reassuring that this isn't that unusual for suggies, they can and will revert to this behavior when they feel Ike it. It may not have to be that they were startled, but it could've been. Mine would, well my girls have from time to time, Ollie hasn't ever reached the same level with me has my girls, but can't say extremely wary either.
Food for thought though, I've been on here reading whenever I can catch up on recent posts. I recall you made some adjustments in their room, was this prior to this reaction? It could be the recent change set her back a bit. No worries either way, carrying as Dawn recommended and all will be well soon enough.
I for one would love a camera, night vision as well to check in on my babies, but sadly unrealistically affordable at this time.
Margarita please, blended, not shaken or stirred, lol.

Lol Hutch, Terry needs a good margarita and sleep, yes, in that order, maybe two good margaritas. I do not know where the worm fits in, I've never drank straight tequila. Worms are yucky to me.

I do not know where the worm fits in. Old school myth/joke. It was supposed to mean it was the top-shelf stuff.

Ahh, finally something in MY area!! There is a type of spirit from Mexico called mezcal. It's made from the agave plant, like tequila but it's not tequila. Taste s like it but not technically. You can make mescal from like two hundred diff. Agave plants. But if you want tequila, it had to be over half blue agave. Sort of like our bourbon rules, and whiskey classifications. The worm is the baby if the type of month that lives in and on the agave. Mostly it's a marketing thing, rite of passage all that. It's just a pickled bug. But tradition says that whoever ordered the last shot had to eat the worm.... Cheers!

Actually that pickled bug is a meal worm. Now I'm picturing my four idiots drunk off a shared meal worm. I'm not sure I could take the ensuing chaos. Nor do I wish to find out, they're enough of a handfull as it is.

If they are anything like us, (and I have a lot of experience with drunk us) they would probably be all fired up and racing around doing leaps they normally wouldn't dream of. "hey arthur!" "wazup merl?" "hold my worm and watch this" Proceeds to leap into a window... "I'm ok! I am oooooookaaaayyyyy"
next would be some drunken socializing where the true personalities without inhibitions would come out then the inevitable fights and possibly some throwing up.
The next day you would have some hung-over gliders and although I don't know for sure I'm guessing a hung over glider ain't nothing to mess with....

So eveyone is pretty much back to acting normal-ish. I guess it was the change in the room. who knows. I kind of get the feeling that the girls aren't exactly getting along like they used to. Just a hunch. They still sleep together but I'll bet even if a couple of gliders really don't like each other when it comes to keeping warm, all hatchets are buried for the night (day). Does this happen to glider roommates? Also I noticed that Lucy who I had first, really is always trying to get out of the room. and when she does she heads right for the bed room and frolics. I used to chase her but now I just let her go until she makes it really easy to pick her up or hops on me. I'm guessing that because she spent the first month or so in that room that it feels more like home? Even though she's been in the cage and the glider room for like three months now. any thoughts?

Just a hunch. They still sleep together but I'll bet even if a couple of gliders really don't like each other when it comes to keeping warm, all hatchets are buried for the night (day). Does this happen to glider roommates? I've seen mine do this, where they act 'funny,' bicker more, or both... then go back to normal. I think they just go through phases, like people. Several of mine like to explore, but mostly do so in areas they're familar. They'll frequently work their way towards the small bathroom where we did most our early bonding. Like you described, once they're ready, they'll climb back on to me. So to me, what Lucy does is a normal 'game.'

so I'll chalk the goofiness up to the room re-arrange and just good ol' mood swings. Thanks guys.

I found they act just like human children especially when you think you have found the perfect toy/play thing for them. YOU are all excited to watch them play with whatever it is and get those perfect pictures.
What happens, they play in the box
