Ok my routine is to come home from work and I immediately see if anyone is up. The room is pitch black and I have two blacklight bulbs in the fixture. Upon checking for movement I screw in one of the bulbs and who ever is up gets a little bit of honey off my finger. I change into play clothes and come back and take one of a few approaches. Either they both come out to roam and explore and I just hang out and wait for them to come to me to play or climb. That's usually pretty boring, Wendy will come and play but Lucy just goes and climbing around. Or I'll take either one into the tent and try sooner one on one time. Anson just having them jump onto my hand or head and climb the tent walls. This whole time I just keep the black lights on it is really hard to see most of the time but I can usually tell who is who and what they are up to. I put a color adjusting LED bulb in the fixture as well thinking I could find a color and level of light that we would both be comfortable with. No dice, anything b brighter than the black lights and Lucy gets into hugging with Wendy usually not far behind.
As soon as the lights are back to Black they both come ride back out on a matter of minutes. So how can I get to the point where he can play and hang out in a lit room?
Also is it advisable to wake them midday for a play session? I'm usually very careful to not try and not wake them.

I used a deep-red LED string around the room when mine were joeys. It wasn't much light any one place, but being a string provided just a little light around the edge of the room.

I moved them gradually from that to a room dimly lit by white light & they seem fine with that now.

I did the same as Hutch. Now is the time to buy a string of red christmas lights.

Anymore, a low light will be enough for mine.

Daytime play depends on your gliders. I would condition mine during the day to grow accustomed to my daytime presense.

Dot was very crabby. I tried several methods to calm her. I would talk to them while in the room, and open cage, and rub their pouch bottom. They would crab / lunge more at first, but learned by shushing, I went away, when the crabbing stopped. I get last word so to speak. Now when I'm in their cage during the day, and pat their bottom, I get a quiet and polite crab sometimes which I take as a "please, we are sleeping".

Dot is again my alarm, but I learned that she prefers pouches she can peek out of without much effort. So I made thses for her:

As you can see, Dot on top is standing, and Fiona on bottom is sitting. This pic was taken during the day while I was talking to them, and I was giving a treat for good behavior. When done, they both slipped down, and pulled the front over them.

If your sleeping pouches are big enough, you can hang tabs closer together or only hang by 1 tab and get a similar effect.

Others use an OE (open environment) pouch. Dot always slept with one eye open in that one, and was extra crabby during tent time.

Some use a cube, be it fleece or a wood nest box, which has a hole in front they can peek out of.

Depending on where I lived, I've used different lighting setups. When I used my bathroom for playtime, I made a nightlight using a small string of (maybe 20) colored, LED Christmas lights and tucked them into an older style Dixie cups dispenser (used in bathrooms). This provided enough light to see where my gliders were in my small bathroom, and not disrupt them at play. Red bulb in light fixture, and currently an orange bulb work well with my gliders.

When mine were joeys, the best option I had available was a red head lamp. That worked well, since they still got to be in darkness, but I could see wherever my head pointed.

When I got tired of the head lamp, I started using the hood light over my stove, which gave enough ambient light for me to see the gliders moving around the room. These days, mine are so conditioned to low lighting that they will scurry for the pouch if I turn a bright light on. (So handy when I need them to get back into the cage quickly without an argument!)
