I have two gliders that I adopted about 6 months ago. They were fed well, buddy was played with but mya was not. It took awhile for mya to come to me, but she does. They are both skunking when they are running around. They are not scared, and they come right to me. Other than fear, do they do this for marking or something else?

Does the smell last?

Skunking smell should all but dissappear once dry. Unless you have an intact male. Their marking will last much longer as they mark territory.

It could also be diet.

Have you had them to the vet for a well check? They may need a urine/fecal test.

They have the same diet as my other 4. They only do it when running around the room. They did go for a wellness check. I don’t recall if they did a urine example, but they did a fecal.

My one glider when I first got her skunked too initially when she was afraid. She literally smelled like a skunk and then it would disappear after a minute or two. She isn't doing it much if at all now. My other never made a skunk smell.

sounds like they may be a bit excited about their freedom in the room.
