Hubby said yes!!! Well, maybe... Close enough! After 2 years of begging for 1 more glider, I get to at least seriously think about it a little more! But no I'm having reservations... A rescue? A joey? A rehome (after a mate loss)? Then come the concerns of colony rejection... Now I'm at a loss... I think he did this on purpose. I feel 1 more would give the girls more enrichment and if something happens to one of them, a mate to help with the loss. But now I'm not so sure... We have room for a quarantine cage, but I really don't want to end up with 2 cages permanently. Since we live in an RV most of the year, and stay on the road, that means 2 of everything. .. So I am in need of thoughts, ideas and insights. Please and thank you!!!

I know exactly how you feel, Dawn. This is usually how my decisions go once I have made up my mind on something major. The back and forth starts with the second guessing my decision.
Good luck. I have no doubt you will finally do what is right for you little glider family

Dawn, it's early morning here and I have to go into work today. I will be getting off early today though, so if you like I can share about my experience when I added my Ollie boy to my home after I get out of work.

I'm back.
Anyway, I had homed a pair of females, my first experience with gliders. They were already paired and got/get along fabulously. When I homed them, they were about 1 yr old, being about 3 months apart.
After I had them for a while, the addiction set in pretty bad, and I started contemplating adding another glider or two. This is totally normal, btw.
Now my situation was very different from yours, but I did have a small house (2 bed/1 bath cottage, with a living room & eat-in kitchen). My then husband wasn't 100% on board with me getting the gliders, but wasn't totally against it, so I figured it would never happen.
Until one day he found out about a pair of gliders that were living in such a horrible state, he asked me if I would take them if he got them. The owner had told him he could have them. However, when he called her, she never answered or replied to messages, but this opened the door.
By this time, I had the Madagascar cage and they had been moved from the 2nd bedroom to my bedroom. I wasn't seriously looking, but checked the adopt-me forum on here and saw there was a lone, neutered male that had lost his cage mate and the circumstances led up to his then mommy to need to rehome him. I contacted her, and made arrangements with her. I did start to wonder things like, what if they don't accept each other, but after conferring with a couple of members here (I had both as mentors for introductions), I decided to go for it.
Having doubts is normal, I even had doubts right after I planned on getting my girls. I'm sure you're aware of that feeling, and that it's normal "cold feet". I agree with Hutch, probably a glider at least closer to the girls size would be best. Now I personally have never had a glider under 1 yr. and also wonder what it would be like starting with a joey, but realistically, you have to consider what will be easiest for your girls and on you.
Ollie came into my home in November 17, 2013 (girls=February 28, 2012), he was around 4yrs old, they were around 2yrs + going on 3yrs. I did quarantine, standard 30 days with two fecal tests, though probably wasn't necessary in Ollie's situation. I began intro protocol immediately after 2nd fecal showed negative for parasites, Ollie was in good health. Introductions took place on December 22, 2013, it took two attempts, both on same day. I've had a trio ever since, the girls haven't changed, still get along fabulously, I've had some squabbles over food due to Ollie. It took some time and deductions for me to figure out what happened to cause Ollie's fussiness over food, I pretty much just put it together recently, since they had no trouble until some time in March of 2014. It's not a big deal, no one gets hurt and everyone gets to eat, I don't like it, but it's the way of the glider and as long as not serious, I'm staying out of it.

Karen, thank you! I'm glad I'm not the only one.
Stef, you are probably right, I will end up with another. However, I cannot do a meet and greet. Because my heart is too soft. If they are "doing it wrong" (IMO of course ), I would take the glider home no matter the circumstances.
Hutch, you are right, and I don't think I want to go through the Joey phase again. When my girls turned a year old, they were different. And I like it.
Terry, I really appreciate your experience and your story. It really helps more than you can imagine.
I'm doing some soul searching (that's why the delay in responding) and creep around ads. Since my two are standard greys, and their markings are almost identical. I would like a different characteristic. Grey's are fine with me, I guess that part doesn't really matter.
I am looking for a new bigger) cage for the RV. Ours is showing it's age (and is cheap). I have found two, but waiting on some inquiries I have about them.
Thank you guys so much for your input, and please give me more input if you think of anything else.
I will keep you posted.

Dawn, you are welcome, that's what we're all here for anyway. Besides, all too recently you were a huge help on a big decision I had to make.
As for cages, have you looked into the Martin's cages? Just wondering, because I know they have several size options and believe they are pretty sturdy.

Terry, I did look at the Martin's cage, but on another website. It will save me $10 on that site. I'm looking to get a 30w x18d x36t. Here: http://www.martinscages.com/products/cages/sugar/The cage I have now is 25w x13d x 36t. We bought the RV before we got the gliders so I only have about 2 options as to where the cage can go. Hubby did find a 5th wheel with 2 bedrooms. He wanted to convert the second room just for the girls. I told him no. I had enough to clean after now. The girls get plenty of out of cage play. Usually every other night at least. Getting but they are one in the same since my cage right now is too small. Dot loves this cage. She will miss it when it's put away. I'm hoping she will learn to love a new one.

That should be a nice size for your available space. I'm sure Dot will love her new cage as well. Why do you think she loves so much about that particular cage? When I switched cages I took their stinky fleece hedgehog and rubbed it all a round the bars of the cage, then placed most of the bedding and some of the toys inside the new cage. It looked different, I could tell they noticed it was different, but it smelled like them.

Why do you think she loves so much about that particular cage? I have no idea. I take the dirty bedding both ways with them. I use the same stuff to clean them both. They even get power washed at the same time. The only thing I can think of is they have lived most of their lives in the RV. When I take them out of the travel cage at home, they stay in their pouch till they are hung up in their bigger cage. In the RV, Dot jumps out of the travel cage, beats me to their cage, jumps in and hugs the bars. Then sits and waits till the sleeping pouch with Fiona is hung in place. Then she goes back to bed. At home, they have the same exact cage you have now. Mine is a Suncoast sturdy cage in black powder coat. The RV cage is a finch flight cage by Preview. I've already had to paint it twice and needs it again. We have assembled and disassembled it too many times to use as a travel cage for our trips to Ohio for Christmas every year. The other strange thing is while we are home, we take them out for play and Dot will climb a curtain, wait till we head towards bedroom, and hitch a ride. If we don't go that direction, she jumps off and runs across the floor and put herself back in the cage.

Yes, I agree Hutch. I think scent plays a big role, and close walls and ceiling.
The new cage will stay in the RV, and I'm looking at another cage for traveling away from home and RV.

Speaking of close walls and ceiling, does your RV have carpeted ceilings? My gliders love to jump from the top of their tall cage up onto our carpeted ceiling, where they run upside down laps around the rig. No ours doesn't, but boy! Does that sound like a lot of fun!!!!

I saw it!!!
I saw spider gliders!!!!!
I played first one for me and second one for hubby. How cool!!! It seems to be a matter of patience, and trying to view the other photos in your album. I finally got them to play. But something wasn't right I could only watch them once.
Anyway, that was cool!!!!!
Now I gotta rethink my ideas!!!
Thanks Stef, it made my day!!!

I can't get them either. I really and perturbed at photobucket! I've considered paying them, but they're priced outrages in my opinion.

Hey, I figured out if you tap on the box below right of the video and enlarge it works better for me.
I can't get the Spiderman theme out of my head from cartoons of my youth! It was pretty corny!
