Everyone knows how heartbreaking rescues can be, and this is a memorial for a lil guy who had a perfect chance- I was just one day too late. We COULD have picked him up yesterday, but since my boyfriend had a rescue run of just transporting dogs and cats today he thought to save gas money he'd pick him up on the way home after drop offs. (We live in a different state and he was passing through it today) The story goes a guy messaged me about a 3yr old glider who's mate had just been mauled badly by his dog and passed away- I asked what the
vet said and literally was told "I didn't know they could go to a
vet". SO I offered to pick up the lil guy ASAP (I heard from him just three days ago) and he promised he'd put the glider in a different room away from his dogs meanwhile. I have a friend who just took in a lone craigslist glider who I helped neuter and teach him all about them, and he had been looking for a friend learning they need company. It was a PERFECT situation.
This morning I logged in to tell him my boyfriend would be there this evening as planned, and saw he'd sent me a message last night that (I'm assuming it was a different dog since he said "big" this time but STILL?) the poor glider was also a victim of the worst neglect and he went in to find the cage broken and the lil glider dead.
It is in my opinion that if you own small and large animals and have ANY question one may injure let alone KILL the others you make DARN sure they cannot reach them, and to have it happen twice is beyond my comprehension.
Here's to the lil guy and all like him that their chance was taken away by negligence and neglect.
Names and contacts are removed even though I don't WANT to in part of me, but I'm not going to stoop to being an awful person. I do not know of any laws that would be able to rightly be pressed, so sadly I only wish I'd been one day earlier, just one day...
