I read on this other sugar glider site (that also sells products) that talks about how to bond. They said that people make the mistake of wearing the bonding pouch with the mesh facing out, and that the mesh window should be towards you body so that your smell can permeate through the window. I've been doing it the wrong way I guess and never thought about that, but it does make sense since bonding is done purely by smell. I'm surprised this info is not posted anywhere and that they don't put a little disclaimer when you buy a bonding pouch to let you know that. Did any of you do it this way?

I have to disagree with that site. A sugar glider can smell you through the pouch. Like my Peanut could smell hamburger place before we got our food through the drive through. The Biggest mistake in pouch bonding is just carrying your baby(s) around and nothing else. I firmly believe you have to have hands on to be bonding. Sitting first with hand on outside of pouch, holding, cupping, rubbing, petting. Which ever one calms baby down and relaxes him/her under hand. Next Hand in pouch: How ever you can get hand in their without crabbing(intensely) or lunging. Also again any way that works for you and baby to be calm with your hand: Cupped over them(my way), hand near them, hand under, finger over behind area etc. After that and little one comfy then you can carry them around in pouch during day. HTH Art Read sites below also have two e-books out that would be helpful to you.

I still don't grab them out of the sleeping pouch and just kinda empty them out gently and using my hands if they get their hands stuck on fabric. I do a lot of holding, cupping, rubbing, petting outside of the pouch, and still trying to slowly get my hands in there.

Art is right, and which way the screen faces is a personal preference. I like it facing towards me, but I have friends that like it the other way.
