I tried posting earlier, but forgot to fill the subject line. Not sure if I'm going to double post. I have been feeding my suggies the pp crunchy diet, plus the apple, and few treats. I made the fruit smoothie and froze that, and the bml diet, plus veggie smoothie. Then I worried that the bml seems a really strict diet, so I ordered samples from critter love. I have been feeding them the pp crunchy food, and alternating the frozen fruit smoothie and apple. They really don't like veggies much. I've even tried adding papaya to it. Can I alternate between the three? Or do I need to throw away all the bml I made? I have a big Tupperware bin full in my freezer. I want to do whatever is best for my kiddos, but it's a lot of food I'm tossing. And if I should stop the bml, is there someone out there who can use some of the ingredients?? Thank you, any advice is really appreciated. April

You need to pick a diet plan and stick with it as it is intended to be fed without adding or subtracting anything. If you do then you are not actually feeding that diet. Those diets were formulated to make sure your glider/s get all their nutritional needs met whether or not they eat everything included. This means they may leave some of the fruits or veggies.
Smoothies are not recommended because gliders will chew/suck what they need out of any fruit/veggie. By blending you are forcing them to eat what they may not need. You are also depriving them of their natural chewing. Just as you would be if you were fed nothing but smoothies.
Yes, BML is probably the strictest diet plan there is, but there is a reason for that as I stated above. By adding to that diet plan, you completely throw off the ratios. Mealworms can be fed as a treat, but the creator does not suggest anything else. Many gliders thrive on this particular diet. Animals are not like us in that they do not grow tired of a feeding plan - their owners do.
Never alternate feeding plans. Choose one and stick with it UNLESS your glider/s absolutely refuse to eat it after you have given them sufficient time and you are 100% sure they are not just having an off day or so. They do NOT need variety in their staple.
Critterlove has several different salad mixes meant to be feed with the staple rather than you just picking and choosing what you think your glider/s might like. Peggy has made it as easy as possible for you.

Karen is right! Plus do not blend up their fruits and vegetables into a smoothie as it forces them to eat the insoluble fiber that they would normal spit out or leave on the plate.
They do not get any nutrients from the hulls of corn, peas or beans. Check them, you may find they are eating the insides and leaving the rest.

Okay! Thank you!! I didn't consider the fact that they spit out the stuff they don't eat!! I will discontinue the smoothies immediately!! And I will try the critter love. I think I'm going to go back to the bml. They ate that fine, and check all the recommended fruits and veggies for it. I made a huge batch, so I'll see how that goes. I would rather have them on a recommended diet versus the crunchy pp diet. Thank you for the advice. April

After reading through this thread, I agree you should stick with the bml, following the plan exactly as directed. At least until your batch is done. And only if you find yourself not satisfied with that diet, then switch to CL and follow plan exactly as directed. I do not recommend to keep switching back and forth between diets, but you may as well finish the batch you made.

You're welcome diets are one of the topics there has been much debate on, I believe it's not as much as it used to be. But though diets can be very complex, it's best to find one that you can easily stick with and one that your gliders will eat, of course choosing one of the more widely used diets that have been successful and/or studied is the best place to start. Enjoy Gliderdomania! lol.

Just to let you know, all three diets have been laboratory tested and approved. The Critter Love® diets, the Pocket Pets diet and the BML diet. Out of all three of these diets, the Critter Love® diet plans (all of them) have had more extensive testing than any of them. We continue to do testing. We are also the only company that works side by side with a world renowned exotic animal nutritionist that specializes in diets for exotic animals. It has already been stated that it is not a good idea to blend their vegetables and fruits up and why so no need to repeat that here. If you choose to continue feeding the Pocket Pets diet, be sure you are also offering the Glide R Gravy with the pellets and the stuff on the side they recommend. If you choose to continue feeding the BML, be sure to follow the diet plan according to the feeding instructions. If you choose to continue feeding the Critter Love® diet plans, feed it alongside one of our salads you can find on our page. If you choose you dont want to go out searching for all the items in a salad to feed alongside the staple, we also offer freeze dried salads. Just re-hydrate and serve.

I believe the OP is referring to the Pocket Pets pellets, but maybe someone can verify if that's correct.
