And Critter Love® has them!!

Although our little girl was nursing and we couldnt get a photo of her, she looks just like her brother Seymour!! A true Melanistic all the way through. Although, I believe the BFBB are a form of melanistic, these babies are beyond a shadow of doubt the true meaning!!

Everyone at GC, say hi to Seymour!!

OK guys. I know what BFBB is either a blonde face black beauty (maybe black face), but please define a melanistic.

Cute pics and love the black tip ears! Can't wait to see a pic of him in a few weeks with more fur!

BFBB is a black faced black beauty.
A melanistic by definition is an animal that has an over abundance of black where there would normally be a different color.

The melanistics I have are entirely black.

Thank you Peggy. I Googled and looks like this may be rare? One of your pics already shows up on Google images.

Dawn,

Yes, there have only been five known of in the USA and only one overseas and we aren't sure about that one as it looks completely different than those here.

The first two born in the U.S. did not make it. The very first one ever was mine. She was two weeks younger than her sibling but mom still shook her off teat and she just was not strong enough to survive.

So they are indeed very rare. Not much is known about them as of yet.

Peggy,

That is so cool, awesome, and what ever else the younger generation says.

Yeah, I saw that black thing on google. Hubby said that what ever it was it didn't stance like a glider. Looks like a cat with a bear head.

So have you been trying for black?

I was surprised your pic made it to Google within 24 hours!

Please keep us posted on their progress.

Yay!

I have seen a video on Facebook of a Melanistic Mosaic glider, he is laying on his back getting armpit scratches and he is very very black except for that white spot on his tummy.

Yes Kim, the one in Taiwan is the third one born in the world, the first one to survive. That one also has a stripe on its back. These so far, do not.

Awww what a pretty baby! Can't wait to see what he'll look like when he's grown up. Congrats, Peggy! Love seeing your pics on FB of all the cute babies.
