Hello guys, I have a 6/7 weeks old Joey and she is a hand raised Joey. I am feeding her Su's Original Joey Milk Formula mix with baby food (Apple + Blueberry) (referred to as "Joey Milk") and she loves it (70% Milk and 30% Baby food). My vet told me to water down the food as possible because she refused to drink water (not from bottle or bowl). She is starting to eat soft fruits like watermelon but in a small amount.

I was trying to introduce HPW (Critter Love Complete) by mixing it with papaya which she doesnt even want to lick it and I had to use syringe to feed her. I have also added a bit HPW to the Joey Milk, and she doesnt seem to fancy it at all.

Any idea what is the normal progress of Joey diet should be? If she refused to take HPW with fruits, should i -

(a) Serve only the Joey Milk until she is ready or
(b) Serve only the HPW with fruits and vege and hope when she is hungry she will eat it and/or feed her using syringe or
(c) Serve (a) and (b) on every occasion

I don't know anything about joey's but I will offer up that if you are trying to feed the Critter Love diet you need to follow the diet as it is listed on the Critter Love web site. You don't just feed one fruit, you need to make an entire fruit/veggie mix and feed that in order to get the glider the proper nutritional ratio's.

I would contact Peggy the creator of Critterlove products. Here email is Critterlove@critterlove.com

She should be able to help you transition your little one.

@Feather Yea I did contact her she suggests me to give the one serving of Joey Milk and Baby Food and one serving of HPW with its salad.

But my baby only eat the Joey Milk and Baby Food. I guess she needs more time. I did try to use syringe to feed her with the HPW with crushed papaya, but she didnt fancy it.

Keep offering it, your joey is still very young.

As weird as this sounds you might want to try it. Your baby may not reconize new foods as eatable items. Eat a piece of fruit in front of her and offer her some of it. Take a bite and make yummy noises and offer a piece of it.

Wanted to add: I have had joeys that were mainly raised on smoothies and ones raised on chunky fruits. The one raised on smoothie only ate smoothie in new home first nights. The other one ate normal food that was pieces or chunks. IF they learn from parents and available variety when young, could cause eating habits as they get older.

I had gliders that ate when I ate and knew dad had good stuff. Jester at a gathering in Orlando didn't know what I was eating even with pocket zipper open. Miss Butters on the other hand knew momma was eating and was coming out for a human snack. They can learn from us especially if you are their surrogate parent.

@ 1daddyglider1Thanks for your help. Yes i do agree that she doesnt know what is eatable and what is not. For now, she is okay with watermelon maybe because it is sweet.

I hope my new Joey of 9 weeks (raised by its parents) can teach her a thing or two about solid food.
