I have a question, I have not neutered Stuart yet, because I'm still deciding if I want to get him a wife and allow them to try 1 baby.

Plus my regular vet does not do laser surgery, I can't remember if that is pom on or off? Anyone know? Also my reg vet that sees my dogs has done only two Sugar Glider neuters. I'm wanting to ask around to other vets in the area and just see if anyone else does.

I hear Albuquerque might have a couple of exotic vets. They are a three hr drive for me though. Worth it though to keep him alive and well.

He is begining to show his tiny man parts. (don't tell him I laughed) If I waited another 6 months to neuter would it be ok? Would it affect him bonding with me any further as we are making awesome progress. Got my tent up this evening and will do first tent time tomorrow evening.

Laser vs non-laser is just the method they use when cutting and doesn't tell you whether it's pom on or off. From what I've heard, lasers just make more efficient cuts or something that tend to not bother your glider as much as traditional surgery. You'll have to call the vet and ask if they leave the scrotum on or take it off.

As far as your vet with no laser goes, he can do a pom on neuter. They just make a tiny nick in the scrotum and pop the testicles out, then crimp the cord and cut.

I agree with Karen about having your vet consult with one of them on the list she provided a link to.

You haven't seen all of his tool yet, there isn't anything tiny about it, but he has found it and you may soon find him flossing (masturbating) with it.

The important thing to remember is you don't want to leave it out to the point that it dries out. You will want to get a tube of plain KY Jelly.

If he leaves it out and it starts looking dry slather it on.

Nah they don't remove any part of the penis, just the testicles. I never saw my neutered male flossing. I'm sure some neutered males still do it, but it's uncommon because they don't have that many hormones to push their sex drive. I had a small sample ky jelly tube the whole time I had Luca, just in case, but I never even saw his penis.

P.S. here's something you can keep on hand if you don't want to buy a big bottle of it. Just know that it takes them quite a long time to get it to you.

OK Feather you are correct there is nothing small about it, Geez, he finally found it today big time, so far it doesn't stay out all the time, but I have noticed it a couple of times when getting his bonding pouch out during the day. Also a couple of times tonight. If he leaves it out an hr or more should I panic or just not worry to much since i'm not seeing it ALL the time? Course during the day when he sleeps I have no idea what's going on.

You will find that he may leave a little of it out and lick it in his sleep, Tucker did that.

You may also find that he will whip it out when you are trying to do nails in hopes that dragging it across your arms grosses you out and you don't trim his nails.

No trust me they will KNOW not to cut this off, it is a far cry from being mistaken for a nail. I'm glad I ask this though because I am learning things I had no idea about either.

First, no absolutely they would not take his penis off.

Second, you may never see your little guy's penis. I never saw Luca's, but I got him neutered right away. Pi's was sticking out a little almost every night when he was in his pouch for bonding time pre-neuter, but I haven't seen it since I got him neutered. Pom off can effect this because the scrotum can still produce some manly hormones, so if they take the whole pom off there's even less hormones there to make him want to whip it out XD
