I was surprised last night as I was sitting on the floor watching the girls play with their new toys and my cat Huly walked in. Now Huly is NOT a normal cat. He has 1 eye half a tail wears an ECollar on and off (currently on) and I have raised him since he was 3 weeks old. The girls came flying to the cage to get Huly's attention. They were nose to nose through the grate and Louise was petting/ grabbing his tail. They got upset when he walked away and excited every time he came back. Now Huly sleeps in the chair watching them (does the same with our rats and fish). He gets along with fish they come running to see him when he sits by the tank same with rats. He does bully the dogs but he has zero hunting drive. He gets excited for the garbage man. I would never have them loose together but it was cool to see they like him.

I know Temulin has been successful with bonding her sugar glider with her old cat and a new one. I bet she'd be happy to talk to you if you were interested in her techniques or something. As a warning, this is definitely not for every cat/other species. Please be very cautious when letting your suggies around other pets.

Just a note, we here at GliderCENTRAL do not advocate or recommend that you allow your gliders to interact or bond with your other pets. It only takes one swipe, with all the bacteria that cats have in their claws. One wrong step with a dog and you have a glider with a broken bone or worse yet a broken back.

They are curious about each other, that is why they come over. Or they could be talking smack to the cat about him having to wear the cone of shame. My gliders have tried to check out the parrots when they get loose, but I don't want them getting near those big beaks.

LOL does he really put it on all by himself? Yes! All the time! If you ask him where his party hat is he will take you to it and he has even put it on his favorite stuffed bear's head. We have found it there multiple times LOL. I know he is weird lol!

Oye, I'm one of those that has to keep my doggies and cats away from the gliders.
My dogs are Italian Greyhounds (breed to chase small rodents) so they get excited (not in a good way) around the gliders.

if the german sheperds or beagle are in the room, the gliders have to stay on me next to the cage. the dogs are well trained to stay away or stay put. but if the gliders start to jump off me then its game over back in cage until I can take them downstairs to playroom, or dogs are in backyard.

Oh my word, that coned cat is so adorable and looks kinda like my cat? Hard to tell from the picture, but is it a grey kitty too? I recently found out my poor sweet Haricotamus is a mutant. She grew herself an extra organ and had to have major surgery that resulted in the vet taking out half of her thyroid system. She is only 2 so she bounced back just fine, but weirdo cats are the best. Maybe the gliders thought the cat was their new satellite TV. Fevy and Hari get along well but it took a lot of careful training. I agree, it is not for all pets/circumstances. I was very cautious when I first introduced Hari. Before that, I had an older kitty who had been around birds and hamsters and guinea pigs before. Fev was so bonded to her. I really think he got a little depressed when she died. I'm glad things worked out well so he could have another kitty friend to snuggle with. He had never seen a kitten before and was very curious about her at first. She was way too small and unaware of her surroundings to hurt him, so when I brought her home I held her up to Fevy expecting him to sniff her and be all "hello, new friend." Nope. He slapped her nose and literally made her cry. After that Hari has had a lot of respect for Fevy. He eventually accepted her as his little sister.

Aww he's adorable! For some reason, he looked grey in the photo. What a pretty pirate cat!

I have a 9 month old puppy. She's a mix. She is so curious about Roo and will go up to her cage and they go nose to nose checking each other out. Now it's not a big deal if Jaz goes up to the cage. Roo just ignores her and Jaz usually just wants Roo's crumbs from eating. Roo has gotten loose on me and Jaz did chase her. Roo turned around and crabbed at Jaz and bit her. Jaz stopped in her tracks, sat down and looked at me like she was saying, "Hey Mom, what was that all about?"
I know I will never trust them to be on the floor together. Once Roo moves, Jaz thinks it's time to chase.
The only thing I fear in life is living without love.

This is the big problem, dogs are so much bigger then gliders and one accidental wrongly placed paw could leave a glider paralyzed or dead. Not to mention if a large dog gets that small glider in his or her mouth. Cats have bacteria in their saliva and in their paws that is difficult to treat with the antibiotic resistant bacteria out there. The bottom line no matter that people say they don't smell like prey they still move like a chipmunk.
