Ok, peeps here is my question. Stuart and I were having our night time play and it was about 5 minutes past when I usually head back to bed. This time Stuart climbed back in his pouch and I continued to talk a bit. All of a sudden he began to crab a little. He NEVER has done this esp during night play time. I then told him it was ok and I was headed back to bed. After a second he stopped and went back to sleep in his pouch and has been fine since. Why would he crab at night play time like this. Do they crab for all kinds of reasons or just scared I thought?

They crab for other reasons too. Sometimes it just means leave me alone I want to sleep.

Our first gliders gizmo and link. gizmo doesn't crab anymore. Link will still crab from time to time.
Our second set of gliders, sophie does NOT crab.
Big momma crabs when in the pouch for any noise. Make a sound and she crabs. She crabs a little less then when we got her but not by much.

so in the end, I wouldn't worry about it at all, its a defensive function. If ANYTHING disturbs them or scares them they will make this noise as a natural/automatic defense.

Oh, alright in other words in retrospect he was probably saying " shut up Mom I'm ready to go back to bed now" lol

You can now understand gliderese

Mine have different levels of crabbing. Fiona's soft crab and a bit of gurgle mixed in is when she's napping on me and doesn't want to go back to the cage. Then there is a medium crab while she's hanging on the front of the cage and wants out to nap on me. Then there is the lunging in her pouch crab which means I woke her up and do not disturb me!

Dot only wants to be left alone when she is in her pouch and crabs to let you know.

It's funny how with just a few noises they can say so much! Can definitely tell the "I'm annoyed" crab from the "get the heck away from me" crab.
