Lightning was killed by our cat

Lightning was killed by our cat - 12/27/02 04:25 PM

Last night Lightning must have got himself loose and escaped into the house. He made it downstairs and apparently he was killed by our cat. Our cat is declawed, (not by us though), but he still died. No blood or anything so I don't unerstand how he died. It's possible he also ate something as I found some chocolate on the floor.

His body was still warm when I found him this morning. If I woke a little earlier he may still be alive.

My g/f is showing him to the other gliders so they know he has passed away and has not just disappeared.

It's a sad day in our house today.

I am so sorry to hear of Lightning's passing. Don't think of what might have been... he is in a peaceful place now and you'll see him again when it's time. Glider hugs from mine to yours.

Thanks for the kind words Toni.

Nadia found Chocolate on Lightning's hands and mouth. Is it possible he died from overdosing on chocolate?

I am so terribly sorry for your loss. I know chocolate can be fatal, but I don't know the levels. Is it possible that he could have gotten into anything else such as rat poison?

I know that this is very difficult and my thoughts are with you and your family.

Mike & Nadia...Our goes out to you both...I am sooo sad to hear about your tragic loss ...I have four cats, and always worry that this could possibly happen to one of my Suggies...We are always sooo careful, but, even so, my Lil Sammie (my favorite, although I love them all very dearly) has escaped the glider n flight enclosure twice, due to my not securing it correctly...One time he got out and left the computer room and ended up in the bedroom & woke my husband as he bounded upon the water bed looking for me...My heart was in my throat thinking of what could have happened ...Another time he got out, along with two others, and nearly wrecked our computer room...After that incident, my husband makes doubly sure they are secure in the enclosure...Again, so sorry to hear about your tragic accident...It can happen to any of us no matter how careful we try to be, so please don't blame yourself...Glider hugs to you both and to your Lil ...

Sassie, Cassie, "JJ", Sammie, Chippie, Opie and twins Holly & Hunter and I send our

I am so sorry for your loss. Remember he is in a better place now where there is no sickness, no injuries, no predators, where is body is whole and perfect and will stay that way forever!
He is waiting for you as well, till your time comes for you to join him. So, it's not really good bye, but "til we meet again".

I'm so saddened by your loss. I can't imagine not having my little ones...

I think this info is correct...it may be off a little; bare with me.
Chocolate is fatal to all animals because they lack enzymes able to break down a certain chemical in chocolate--a bromide compound, I believe. Hopefully someone will come along with a link to the chocolate information site. If you did find chocolate on your little baby, you may want to have the vet look at him...perhaps for closure reasons. ...and also to clear the kitty's name if he/she wasn't involved...

I'm so sorry My heart goes out to you all.

Glider hugs and kisses.
